Filing a claim

Hi,
A car went through my fence(medical condition),neighbor witnesses it, knew the driver (it is a small town ) and contacted us at work. After a week or so the driver left a card with his name, claim number, and insurance agent name and company. I got a couple estimates, which took a while because everyone was booked up for the summer weather. After getting the estimates and still not hearing anything from his insurance company, I emailed them to his agent, not knowing what else to do with them. Almost two weeks and no response. What is the proper process? Seems like my agent should be handling this? What should be my next step?
Thanks for your help

Hey,

The Proper process is suppose to include filing a claim with the other parties insurance company.

1. The Insurance adjuster should give you a claim number and the adjuster should want to come out to inspect the damages, or take and review the estimate from your shop of choice.

2. The insurance adjuster will then approve or deny your estimate and send you a check or a letter of denial. Regardless of their decision the adjuster by law has to call and go over the decision of approval or denial with you.

3. If approved you can get your damages repaired and if there isnt enough money then you can call the adjuster back and he will conduct a supplement to reinspect and send you another check for the damages.

4. If you are not getting a response from the insurance adjuster then you can call your agent for help. The agent should on your behalf help you with the claim process.

Here is a good video on your initial call with the insurance adjuster:
