My friend...your decision is good but you need to ascertain the answers to the following-

a) Do you intend to sale your home ?
b) Till what time would it remain empty?
c) Do you have anyone who checks in everyday?
d) Is it detached from the view ?

All of these are very important to decide the fate of your insurance application. Good luck!

Hi, my personal opinion is that these insurance companies would create problems unless they are sure that theres someone who visits your home each day.
They firmly believe that unless theres someone to take care of the house then the chances of it getting damaged (eg. burglery & fire) increase. Regards,
Sasha.

Hey there!
There is also a possibility that your insurer would offer you a period of 90 days till which your home may remain uninhibited. Once this date is surpassed then your policy might just stand canceled. Fatman

Hi all...I agree to most of what has been said over here...n also like to add that if your case is a specific one where in if you wanna sale of your vacant house in the recent future and the place is quite in a good condition, then you might come across a number of insurers who'd offer you a temporary policy.

On another note...have you thought about renting it out to a family member or friend or anyone for that matter, then you would have someone there all the time, and you could get the insurance, and also get a little income on the side!.. Just a thought that is what I do with my prior home in MA I rent it to my cousin...
