What and how did it get damaged after three months? Depending on how it got damaged and why will give me a better idea of how to answer. It could possibly be covered under homeowners ins. or if it was the fault of the person that installed it it could be covered under their policy. Really need some more info here to answer this question.

Hi,

Please tell me which state you belong to. I also need to know the extent of damage and the cause as well. Waiting for your reply.

Thanks
Laura

Only thing I can add is that in order for ones own policy to provide coverage, the loss would need to be sudden and accidental (hence, the reason needed to know what happen). When it's mentioned that this happen over the past 3 months, it sounds more like wear/tear or incorrect installation or, many separate losses.

Do you have ‘home content insurance' included in your homeowners insurance?
Check out with your insurance company. If this option is there in your policy, than it may be providing coverage for your carpet also.

I am from Adelanto (California). My carpet gets damaged because my son plays cricket in the room with his friends. :)

If you have homeowners insurance then the carpet is likely to be covered under it. But the problem lies elsewhere. In your case, it seems that you have to file a claim after every three months. It will affect your insurability in future. Moreover, after every claim your premium rate will shoot up. It is then wise not to make a claim for it.

Hi, im in Wellington New Zealand, and I wanted to know about insurance for carpet? I was told only if carpet was damaged by leaking internal piping or bath, toilet, bidet or shower. My carpet was damaged by the washer(on washing machine hose) was damaged and was slowly leaking for 5-6 months....the washers connect to the sink from underneath so went un-noticed until I went to remove shoes from cupboard(50 odd pairs) and saw the damage top the carpets and shoes then. I am renting someone elses property.
Thanks :D

Ina, first off I'm going on the ''assumption'' that the home owners policys in New Zealand, and the US are similar regarding this issue..but you should most certainly check..

There is no such thing as 'carpet insurance'. Damage to carpets are covered subject to the policy wording on Home owners, dwelling and some renters policys..

However, you have a big problem with this...

was slowly leaking for 5-6 months....the washers connect to the sink from underneath so went un-noticed until I went to remove shoes from cupboard(50 odd pairs) and saw the damage top the carpets and shoes then.

All homeowners type policys say that the loss must be ''sudden and accidental'' then further go on to say that 'we do not cover' things like, 'gradual deterioration'...If a pipe bursts and water goes everywhere, yes, there is coverage. If a pipe or water source has been leaknig for some time, gradually accumulating, resulting in damage, they are not covered. Again, this is how policys in the USA are written, you should definately check your policy wording on this...and speaking of that...Do you have a renters policy or are you talking about the policy that the home owner has? Have you told your landlord about this damage? Have they filed it with their carrier?

We are being told by the insurance company that they will replace carpet ( it was stained by A/C pan water dump while gone on vacation) only up to first opening after damage. This area includes stairs, hallway, movie room, two bedrooms. All the same carpet, it is about 12 years old but was a top of line carpet and still looked in good repair. I have replacement cost on my policy. It needs to be replaced all or nothing to maintain the look and value for this house.
How do we fight this?

You can ask them really really nice to replace it all. They will tell you no, and then you can either replace it yourself or not replace any of it. The point is, if there is a cut-off point where a door closes they are normally not going to replace all of the carpet.
