Hi guys I am from california I am going to buy a theft coverage of premium of $12 / month from "Safeco Insurance" is it my correct choice ?

I thought the theft insurance is included into the simmple auto insurance policy. In mine it is.

Yeah, you have taken the right decision if you don't have a comprehensive coverage on your car. California metropolitans are topping the chart recently released by National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) on auto theft .

I haven't heard of many insurers, and I'm familiar with Safeco, that offer "theft" coverage as a stand-alone product. Normally, theft is included in what's called "Other than Collision" or "comprehensive" coverage. This "package" of coverage also includes fire, vandalism, broken windows from rocks, and a number of other things that damage your car from a loss "other than collision."
Now, everybody's assuming car insurance...but you didn't say what kind of insurance you were considering. If you're talking theft insurance to protect your apartment, that's a whole 'nother story!
