Hi Yeah, 'inforce files' often refer to the application files of policies issued between 1920 & 1948 records of which are still getting maintained and reviewed by an insurance company. Thus the policies prior to 1988 which are no longer with the company and were banned in connection with the regular record retention are known as the discarded policies . I think this has a close example cited by the NY Insurance co. in the past. I'm sure this piece of info helps you get a brief about it!

hello!
As far my understanding goes, inforce files direct to those files which contain data related to the policies dating back to the mid-forties, where in some extra premium had been charged (with or without endowments) for the issuance of the same to afro-americans and asian-americans and the racial premium charge had not been abolished till late. Thanks & regards, Fatman

Well, it seems fair when we say that these files link to policies which were in force for a considerable period of time (or are still there) even after a majority of likewise policies had ceased to exist! And lemme also add to it, that these polices were issued not only on the basis of racism but also with respect to the occupation of the holder. Thanks, Robert Blackwell
