Gosh! Boy, you have lots of queries. OK, let me answer you one-by-one.
If you are below 21 and caught for drinking and driving for the first time, you will have to pay the following penalties
*You may get your license suspended for 60 days
*Fined up to $500
*20 to 40 hours of community service
*Mandatory attendance in alcohol-awareness classes
Texas has the highest number of road casualties in the nation, involving drunk drivers. No wonder, the punishments are severe in this matter.
BAC or Blood (Breath) Alcohol Concentration, test measures the concentration of alcohol in one's blood. In Texas a person is considered intoxicated if BAC stands at 0.08.

Juanita

Hi Johny,
First I want to tell you that all the states have declared 21 years as the legal drinking age. Therefore, drunk driving at your age is a serious offense. Even possessing liquor will attract a penalty of up to $500.
If an underage driver is convicted, he has to attend the alcohol awareness course sponsored by the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. It is mandatory; failing which within 90 days, might attract an additional penalty of license suspension for six months.
Moreover, you may find it difficult to buy insurance for you in the future. Insurance companies may turn you down or may charge higher premium for drunk driving record. Fatman

Hi Johny,
BAC is a method of measuring alcohol concentration in one's blood. It is calculated as percentage by mass, by mass per volume or by a combination of both. It is not as accurate as Breathalyzer but will give you a fair estimate of a person's degree of intoxication. Hence, it is widely accepted.
Countries apply their own methods of determining BAC and the allowed limit of intoxication also vary among them. Across US the legal limit of intoxication is now 0.08% for the adults. People below 21 are strictly prohibited from drinking.
Most of the road wrecks in USA involved drunk driving. Therefore, the government is now becoming very stringent about it. The legal limit of intoxication which was 0.10% initially, now been lowered to 0.08%. The local authorities were awarded with such powers that they can revoke or suspend your license on the spot, if you fail or deny to undergo the BAC test.
Hope you will take this seriously.

Hi Johnny,
I hope that you have not been arrested for DUI at all. My boyfriend practiced law for 20 yrs. and shared an office with a law firm that specializes in DUI cases. My first response to you is politely decline to take the test.
I don't know where in Texas you are but send me a private email if you need to know the law firm.
Take care.
