Hi Tom,
Temporary Disability insurance replaces the wage income when you are unable to work for a certain time period. The Temporary disability insurance considers any physical or mental state that is preventing you from performing your regular jobs or earning your bread. However, different states have their own specific set of eligibility criteria; like- California considers acute alcohol or drug addiction as disability. You can check out with your State Insurance Department to know more about the eligibility conditions.
Thanks and Regards,
Juanita

Hi there!
lemme just tell you that you would definitely get covered for temporary disability irrespective of the place you're in, provided that you're working under an employer who has been covered under that place. Also remember that the coverage on your accident or sickness is subject to the chances of your recovery, provided that the fatal event has not occurred while you were at work. In case it has a link to your work make sure that it is not covered by the worker's compensation law.

Yeah Tom, it's quite true that TDI plan considers all mental and physical disability conditions that prevent you from working. But most of the policies will not cover for any intentional damages done. Certain states have also prohibited paying any benefits if you are convicted for drug abuses and the like. Jess

hi! I believe that the following conditions might just hold good towards your applying for temporary disability -
# When you are not being able to attend office/school or say your workplace for a minimum of 60 days due to any injury or sickness.
# When you have not applied for any disability on the basis of any pre-existing health conditions unless it has worsened to get you up to a temporary disability.
# If you are attending any ailing relative who is completely dependent on you for at least 90 days which demands you from work for a minimum of 30 hours a week.
# Whenever you are under the supervision of a physician who has agreed to review and confirm this state of health once in every 6 months.
# Whenever you are demanding these disability benefits under a genuinely critical pregnancy.
Thanks for raising such a vital issue! Regards, Fatman
