Lemme tell you that it depends on your insurance company. The company will list out the conditions they will cover. If they cover Parkinson disease, they spell it out in their policy document. So, go through your policy document once more. If you still find it difficult to understand enquire with your insurance agent.
Thanks and regards

Parkinson's disease is covered under social security disability insurance (SSDI). However, one needs to meet several criteria to qualify for it. A person earning more than $860 a month may be denied to receive disability benefits under SSDI.
Social Security Act will consider one as disabled because of Parkinson's if the person suffers from neurological disabilities which have impaired him/her from performing daily activities.

My grand unce suffered from this desease. He was not insured, because he moved to USA in old age. So, it''s very important to care about insurance beforehand.

My ex husband lives with me and has Parkinson's Disease and many other problems. He is 81, has no assets but he does have a small retirement of $968 a month and SSS of $1665.00 a month.
I'm finding it increasing difficult to care for him. He cannot dress himself, walks with a walker with difficulty, cannot get his own food and needs help with bathroom and bodily cleaning.
My question is does any agency out there cover help with him. I have no one to take him and he is beginning to need more help then I can provide. I know he brings in too much to qualify for MediCal/Medicare Does SSI cover anything at all.

Hi! Loree, I feel for you as well for your husband. SSI may offer some benefits to the individual with Parkinson since it evaluates the claim on the ‘functional limitation' of the claimant. I'd suggest that you contact the nearest social security department to know more about your options.
Hope this helps.

Well.......I just want to say this is the 'filed' in which I work. I work with the Elderly and Handicap. I took care of a 'Client' who had Parkinsons. He WAS awarded SSDI because of the 'limitations' he had about caring for himself. You might want to call your local DPW or Area of Aging ( whatevr similar programs you DO have) and see what kind of programs, or 'Independent Agencies' they have. The Area of Agency may have a list of people who do this on an 'independent' basis, as well.
