Welcome Glenda,
First of all, I hope that everything went well with your treatment and all is looking good for you. Best wishes on your complete recovery :D
As far as life insurance is concerned, most carriers will not insure a cancer patient until at least 5 years clean have passed. There are, however, alternatives that may be available to you.
"Guaranteed Issue" life insurance policies are exactly that. For info, simply Google "guaranteed issue life insurance" and you will get a slew of hits. These policies are definitely more expensive than policies that are underwritten through medical exams, but do not ask any medical questions. The amount of coverage is limited to generally $25,000 or less, but you're guaranteed coverage upon application and issuance.
The next avenue would be to Google "impaired risk life insurance." These are carriers that specialize in insuring people with checkered medical backgrounds, and will occasionally insure cancer patients who have been clean for 2 years. Again, at a much higher premium rate.
Finally, if you purchase one of these type of contracts, you might consider it temporary in nature. Once you're past the 5 year mark, most carriers will consider issuing a policy for you if their other criteria are met.
If you have needs for high amounts of coverage, there are a few "non-medical" carriers out there that will only require you answer questions on an application form, and do not put you through medical examinations as part of the underwriting process. This may be a tougher route to go, as you still have to truthfully answer questions about your medical past.
Hope this gives you some insight, and please let the forum know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

The insurers put a lot of emphasis on the client's medical condition while writing the coverages. And diseases like- cancer, heart diseases make it even more difficult for you to get a life policy. But you may find insurers offering policies a normal rate once you manage to stay healthy for five years. BTW you can enjoy coverage offered by your employer.
However, if you decide to go for open market policy for extra coverage you may ask to pay even four times more than the normal rate. There are companies which have specialized in writing policies under such special cases and quite legitimately charge high prices. But if you ask me, I find it wise to invest on them. It will help you to remain covered.
Wish you stay healthy and everything goes fine with you. Rupert

This is sad, can't get insured when you need it most, hope that you are doing well now and you can get some insurance in the near future. Goodluck with your recovery and hopefully you will stay in remission. Please keep us updated.

Insurance companies rarely insure anyone that's a high-risk like yourself. Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with this.
By the way, you don't need to post in ALL CAPS, it doesn't get the point across any better.
