Insurance Education Question

by CVClaims » Mon Nov 19, 2007 07:34 am

I am currently a consultant for car accident injury claims out of California. I have a background in claims adjusting, so I know the ins and outs of the insurance business an how the claims process proceeds. What I am looking for is to know if there are some accreditations or certifications I can get to have as a reference for my clients. I have not been able to locate anything since I left claims adjusting. Obvious insurance carriers have their own for their employees, but I was looking for an outside source, maybe something from the state or DOI.

Good morning CVCLAIMS, and welcome to the community...

one i am ALL too familiar with is the AIC thru the IIA (Insurance Institute of America)
aicpcu.org

Here's the link you can get an associates degree in 'claims' aicpcu.org/flyers/aic.htm

If that is what you mean I'm not sure exactly which 'area' you are wanting to get some certifications in (bi, pd ?).......hope that helps if not let us know hopefully the 'insteacher' will pick up this post, I'm sure he will have many ideas for you.

Lori....nice to meet you and thank you for the link, I will check out the site. I am not looking for any type of degree, I already have a BS from a State University, just certifications, I had some certs through Farmers Insurance and am looking for some outside education.

Anyway, I will check them out and see if they have anything I need.

Thanks!

Are you looking for any certificates that would allow you to work independently ?

Not as a claims adjuster, I actually do claims consulting and would like my clients to have faith that have know what I am talking about. Obviously I have experience working through thousands of claims, I was just wondering if there is outside education on certain aspects of auto/liability claims, other than college courses, or courses to be an agent.

The AIC is not an asoociates degree, it is a designation. Please take a look at the mant designations through AICPCU.org or check out the American Education Institute for the (SCLA) Senior Claim Law associate designation.
