And he is wondering one thing, can he negotiate a lower rate due to him being the one who has to drive his kids to and from school? Stupid question, I know, but everyone wants cheaper car insurance.

Good morning Quenlin and welcome to the community...and there are no stupid questions....

can he negotiate a lower rate due to him being the one who has to drive his kids to and from school?

Yes and no...he won't be able to negotiate persay...all companies have their own rating structure...he will just need to shop around and find one with the best rate to suit him....how do you (he) come to the conclusion that this

due to him being the one who has to drive his kids to and from school

would qualify him for lower rates? I don't think I'm understanding what would make this a lesser risk? Please explain what your thought process was regarding this. He can contact an agent or get on line, many companies will source not only their rates but others even if lower! Let me know your thought on the driving to school part...I'm curious what you meant by that....

Well the psychology is this, because he's going to have the kids in the car, he'll care for their safety. If he's caring for their safety, then he'll drive slower and be more cautious to set a good example to them, and keep them safe. And if he's driving more cautiously, less chance he'll be the one to cause an accident.

Alright, thanks Lori, I'll relay it to him. I guess he will need to shop around, but he's a smart guy, he knows quality when he sees it.

Just one more thing- remind him to disclose his financial status & anything & everything that might help the insurer offer him a fair policy. There shouldn't be anything hidden from the insurer, which might cause him trouble later on.

Thanks Fatman, I'll tell him that as well. Thanks for the advice, both of you.
