I mean to say, AllState offers 20k coverage at 400, and I say that State Farm will give me 23k at 400, but that's a blatant lie, could someone get in some nasty trouble for doing that? Or would they just throw you out of the office and say not to bother coming back?

Asking stupid questions so you don't have to since 1989.

No legal trouble as no one would ever pursue it. As you speaking as a consumer? I ask as I don't think carriers negotiate on a personal lines policy based on what other carriers may or may not offer. If this is correct, I'd agree with your last statment.

I am with tscope on this one, they have set amounts that they charge depending on the individuals situation right? This is with all types of insurance.

Auto, they would take your record into consideration.
Life, your past health history and etc.
Homeowners, many things to factor in

Not sure what type of insurance you are talking about but I think they have to take a lot of things into consideration before quoting a price and I do not believe that price is negotiable, but hey you can always try.

Absolutely agreeable!
One thing I'd also like to mention over here is that even if you see that you're availing a few Ks worth of coverage more for the same pricing...make sure that you go through the service history for that specific type of insurance for your chosen co. I feel they even have different service levels according as per their key operational areas.

I would personally give you the best possible quote I had and depend on your judgement in comparing the types of insurance coverage being offered. "Roadside Assistance" will bring you gas. "Towing" will only tow your car. I would explain to you that I have no control over the price, but I would assure you that I only conduct business with carriers who pay their claims in a prompt manner. Your comment about the lower price would have no affect on me.

If you only look at price and don't compare "Apples" to "Apples", you just might get a lemon.

Let's turn the situation around - What would you do if you caught your insurance agent in a lie?

Complain to the manger, scream at him, call him a filthy lying &@$%@&#, key his car, kill him with my thumbs, and leave in a huff.

Well, just the first one, and probably never deal with the company again. Yes, I'm a hypocrite, but then again, I don't need insurance. Assuming by "Lie", you mean he says 300/month including every fee and tax, and it's actually 380 including every fee and tax.
