I am a new agent contracted through NAA here in Arizona. I am making a huge career change from the finance side of the car biz after 13 years. My question is what is the best form of insurance to sell Health, p/c, or just life, and why? Also who would be best to work for/with? I am the sole source of income for my family and don't have time to monkey around trial and error style. I have enough money to last me for 4-5 months so it is important that I get as much good advice and info as possible. Thank You Thank You!

How long have you been with NAA? That is where I started and I do not recommend it.
How long have you been doing it and how has it been going?

What is the NAA commission set up? When do you get paid for new business? Do you get paid on renewals? How long is NAA's auto and home policy? 6 months/1year?
With Allstate, I get new business and renewal business commission the following month - if NAA has the same set up, and you only have 4-5 months of income to hold things together, you won't see any renewal income until month 6 (payment for the 6th month during the 7th).
For quick money, I would see what pays you the fastest and has the highest percentage commission.
However, to be a strong agency, you need s good combination of all the things you listed.

How much research did you do on NAA? Try Google and also search for forums on this board. You may want to look at a local full service agency. If you need money now, without buying leads, you need to be calling group health or commercial P&C, BOP. Without a lot of leads and skilled conversion, that is the only way you'll make it in 4 months.

I have heard the same about NAA. Also I would avoid Torchmark, Cornerstone, and NASE.
I deal with Life and Health.
The best advances are with life deals, but they are harder to come by.
Health you will get more deals a lot easier, so a good mix of both is key.
The other thing is if you are going to be buying your own leads, also have a good mix. You can get recycled leads that are 1 to three months old for $1 or under. Get cheap shared leads for $8 and under. I wouldnt go for exclusives yet untill you have your sales presentations worked ot.
Also check out my blog, maybe you can learn from some of the mistakes I made. Its also has articles on developing your own call scripts and sales presentations that might help.

I like the peolple and the products but have yet to make a sale. (2 weeks 65 leads-5 appt this weeekend though)I think that selling health insurance would be great too. I am thinking about running biz 1-2 days a week for naa and doing health ins mon-fri. Has anyone seen that work well? Who is a good health broker to work for though

I use insuranti as my brokerage for health. They have a good program and also have the ability to set you up with online sales. (this saves me a lot of gas money and travel time).
I have friends that use messer financial and they seem happy with them.
Just check out several. Avoid the single company health captive agencies.
