Hi Chris-
Found this while doing some research on SHC. I live in Rock Hill, SC and have some sales experience. I was looking into getting into the insurance industry. What can you tell me? What do I need to know? Your previous posts have been quite helpful!

What do I need to know?
You need to do a couple of things like - sitting for the state insurance exam and obtain the license. I'm sure we can inform you all about this in a greater detail. But before that, I'd like to know the reason why you'd like to shift in to the insurance industry. Is there a specific reason behind it?

I am somewhat familiar with the insurance exams. I was a licensed real estate salesman in Ohio since 2004. My father was selling insurance but only as a part time supplemental income. As I am sure you already know, it is not a part time job thus he was not successful at it. Why insurance? Everyone needs insurance; whether you are writing a small policy or a large policy.....the future income potential is great. I have an eight hour a day job now with excellent health benefits. I have managed people, assets, P&L's, and made companies rich while they share nothing and if they do it is peanuts. I have been through a lot in my personal life over the past few years.
I need to and have to now focus on me and my career. Sales is all about relationships! Someone said it on one of these posts. They are not afraid to see their clients at the grocery store. I know anyone I have ever sold a house to or a car or motorcycle to loved me, loved the product they got, andf if they didn't they could talk to me about it and it could be resolved.
Basically, I am seeking a professional job where the income potential is six figures, that I can put in a hard days work and know at the end of the day it was for me and the person I helped, not the shareholders or someone's kid who inherited his father's business.
