How can I correct this quickly, Robert Musgrove the Manager at nc Farm Bureau auto insurance 919-469-3191, is using ccc Market Survey to undervalue my car and has quoted 3800 instead of more than 8000?!

You can value your car yourself by using www.nada.com or www.edmunds.com to appraise the value of your car and get a more realistic value. Make sure you list all the options on your car and deduct for things like standard trans instead of automatic , vynl instead of leather and so on. It will ask you for your mileage and zipcode to account for your market. You have to decide whether your vehicle qualifies as excellent, good, average or poor condition and it will appraise based on your imput. You can then print out your appraisals.
Then go online and find out what vehicles are selling for in your area or within 200 miles with your similar options and with one similar to your condition. Most vehicles that have been smoked in and rode hard do not qualify for excellent condition. However some average cars are only a 200 dollar detail away from better than average condition. Use the comps to support your value, this is what most state departments of insurance tell you to do so you can prove your loss. Call the dealer or seller and negotiate the best price or the least they will accept to sell you the vehicle in writing.
Another thing you can do to be more accurate in your appraisal is to consider any existing damage other than the most recent loss that has not been repaired. Calculate approximately 250 dollars for moderately damaged panels and 400 dollars for more heavy damage per panel. Also any hail damage will detract from market value considerably.
