Do I have any grounds for appeal?

Recently my wife and I had a baby, which our obstitrictian was "in-network," but our hospital (the only hospital that the in-network obstitrictian delivers at) was "out-of-network." All of this came to light when we recieved the bill. The cost difference is 20% of the bill.
What can I do?

Hey drewlords,

You should always check if you're being admitted to a hospital that falls within the network. You could have consulted with your insurance carrier rep. or agent if you spotted it earlier.

Now, I don't think there's much room left, apart from registering your complaint with your carrier or seeking the help of an attorney. Have you shared your concern with your carrier by now?

Make sure you get an explanation from them as to why they'd have such a physician who's only delivering at an out-of-network hospital. Paleblueface
