California: How is salvage value of a total loss vehicle ca

My 2002 PT Cruiser was totaled in an accident. It was so totaled that no one would buy it for salvage, yet AAA deducted $745 as salvage value on their offer based upon their "computer program". The tow company took the car off my hands (I couldn't believe I was given one day to get rid of the car before I'd be charged storage) - the tow and storage bill was $499 and if I paid $200 and give them title - done. I think that therefore the salvage value was $299 and that's what I'm arguing with the adjustor now. They did give me a good FMV and upgrades as well as full loss of use, but that $745 is outrageous, and not based in reality. Any suggestions on arguing this?

I'm not following this. If an insurance company totals out a vehicle they should take possession of it. If nothing else, they should address the towing/storage charges. Why did _you_ do this?
