involved in accident, other party ran red light. Police report does not list insurance. Does the other party have to provide information to police with 24 hours

I don't know about that...this would be a state to state, region to region thing. I'd start by calling the police dept, and asking if proof of insurance was taken at the scene, and if not why? I'd also ask the PD if they would contact the owner/driver and ask for their insurance information. If they won't..You might try calling the guy yourself..but that may not get you anywhere. Have you filed it with your carrier? If you have collision coverage your carrier will handle your damage, then subrogate the at fault carrier. Another way to check, some jurisdictions require proof of insurance, when registering or renewing plates, if your DMV requires this, you may be able to get the info from them.

Well.....................I live in PA. I DO know, when I had MY car accident, me and the other driver had to have proof of Insurance. The State Police DID write down BOTH Insurance Co's, on the Police Report and gave me a copy and the other driver, too. The accident was 100% the OTHER driver's fault.

Most jursidictions will put this on the police report. In fact most will give you a ticket if you don't have proof...I'd get on this with the cops...I think the officer at the scene just might've messed up.
