Welcome to the Community :D I am not sure, but are you asking about getting him on Disability? If this is the case, his Primary care Doctor will be able to get him started.

You can call your Social Security office and they will send papers to fill out. I am not sure in the case of a physical disability, but in a mental disability, the Doctors must refer to the DSMIV IV, when refering to their diagnosis, and why it it is not feasible that they can work, This is where your primary care Doctor comes in.

If this is not what you are asking, I am sure someone will come along and give you the correct answer..Karen

Is your brother still employed? If so you might look into some short or long term disability thru his employer as well. Of course as previously mentioned his primary physician would be the first place to start. Also what insurance coverage does he currently have? And is there a disablity benefit? Godd luck.......lori

I have some experiences. I'll try to give you some background of the decisions.
Disability insurance usually covers the physical disability. It'll give a sum of amount to those who accidentally got disabled. So it was not because of diseased. If you are not sure, before you pay the premium, you'd better look at the contract and see what they cover there.
One more, protection can only be given for non-existing condition. The pre-existing condition, means that you have the conditions already, can not be insured. Hopefully it will help you.
