You know, I think there might be something to that, I remember something with a great aunt, but this is too important a question for me to speculate. Hopefully Ins.Teacher or someone with some first hand knowledge will drop in on this one. Be patient.

Hi Misty,

I would like to be able to help you with your concerns, but need a little more information. Your post is somewhat lacking in detail. Is this for your own care? A family member? We also need to know what state you live in, as laws on long-term care vary from state to state.

In other words...give us the whole story! Feel free to omit truly personal info, but the more you can give us, the more detailed the response will be. Thanks in advance!

Absolutely!
Your state guidelines are quite important in this respect, since they play an important role towards deciding what you need to do & what not. I'm sure many of the rules would support you with a view to not submitting your pension towards such a policy...Regards, witnessoklahoma

Welcome to the Community Misty :D Ins Teacher is right, a little more info will go a long way!

I'm not sure about pensions, but I know in Oklahoma a friend of ours had a husband who went into long term care, an they took his SS check to cover it. Then his wife paid an addition sum each month to make up the difference.

I would like to know too, if this is for someone else, why would they take your pension?

Feel free to ask questions!..KAren
