Amongst the insurance giants of the country StateFarm is known to insure the trikes. You may check out with them. Also there is a discussion on this board regarding trike insurance, you may also go through it for more insight. jeorge

how much can i reasonably expect to pay for insurance for a V8 home built motor trike?

It won't be wise for me to predict a rate before knowing the true condition of the engine. One good way for you is to look for the online brokers. You won't have to bear the whole lot of admin costs. Also before going for the rates check the status of the security systems installed in your trike. Once you have the proper safety means in place you'd achieve better rates.
