I was rear ended while I was stopped at a red light.

I was rear ended while stopped at a red light. I was told by a body shop that my truck would be totaled by the insurance company, but my truck already has a salvage title. So my question is how much should I expect to receive from the insurance company?
Is their a minimum that the must pay to buy my only transportation?

I live in Dallas Texas
My truck is a 1998 Mazda B3000 ( Ford Ranger type truck) Extn. cab & standard transmission.

Hello, DALLAS, and WELCOME!!! Well...........I'm not an expert on insurance, but I DO know it was the other persons fault for rear-ending YOU. There are ALOT of experts, on this forum and I'm sure one of them will be along shortly. Did you get hurt? Hope not. Any passengers in with you?

Each insurance company is a little different but most will pay the value of the vehicle less 25% for the salvage title. The lowest they should pay would be around $500.

A Salvage Title?/ I never heard of THAT one. What is it? When your car is totaled, is this what they 're-name' the title?

(SD i answered the salvage title on the other thread)

my truck already has a salvage title.

the most the deduction should be is about 25%, maybe less salvage title deductions after a vehicle is 10 yrs old are usually alot less, and a truck as well

So my question is how much should I expect to receive from the insurance company?

You should expect and be owed the ACV (actual cash value) for you vehicle this would include deductions for condition problems and prior salvage title..

Is their a minimum that the must pay to buy my only transportation?

T is right the absolutely lowests I've ever seen paid for ''basic transportations'' (which i don't think yours is) is 500

I was the driver but I also had my two daughters and my niece with me. Their ages are one 4yrs and two 7yrs. I have already hired a lawyer to start a personal injury claim, but it will take some time to resolve that claim.
My 4yr old now is scared to ride in a car & my 7yr old has been getting headaches, she says it hurts were she hit her head in the truck. My 7yr old niece also hit her head & arm, but her mother is filing with my lawyer. I have began seeing a doctor for my back.
Its not fair that an insurance company can only pay 500.00 for my truck. It is my families only automobile and I was stopped at an intersection. It was clearly the other drivers fault.

What was said was that no matter what the condition of the truck was, you should not be paid less then $500. What that means is if the truck was in the worst possible condition but still running, it is worth $500... even if it has a salvage title. That is, if the truck was worth $500 with a clean title, it's not worth 25% less with a salvage title. I don't know the condition of the truck so I can't say it's only worth $500.

But you are also correct in that a truck in good working order is probably worth more to you in that condition then it's cash value (what someone would buy it for). I hear exactly what you are saying.

OP we were not saying at all that your truck was worth 500.00 you ask the 'lowest' that we've seen paid, that is 500 not what your truck is worth...you're truck is likely worth the ACV less the deduction for a salvage title if that even applys in your case, as i said a vehicle over 10 years old a salvage title doesn't necessarily affect the ACV very much..

let us know if you have any questions as you work thru the claim...we're here to help.

Ok in the 6th day after the accident I was offered $3400 for my truck and $2800 if I decided to keep my truck. So I kept my truck & received a $2800 settlement. I could'nt believe what a fair offer I received, but I will have to apply of a new salvage title with the dps & most likely have to get a new state inspection sticker.

See every adjuster isn't out to 'screw' the insured or claimant... I can tell sometimes when I make an offer the person is shocked and wasn't expecting so much, but STILL they will ask for more...boggles the mind some times.
