Depends on why the ice was there, if you was visible, weather conditions, what. Also, who owns the property where this occured and had they done anything to prevent this from happening?

If this property is owned by a business or a home owner, chance are good that they have Medical Payment coverage to address medical bills.

Jenny, normally it is the liability of the property owner to compensate you for the medical expenses. If the owner has the liability coverage you would be compensated through his insurer. However, there are plenty of other factors that could affect the nature of the claim. So, please detail out your query for better responses.

who pay the bills

I assume you have turned this into your health carrier? they will pay them atleast initally....as the T has said it really depends...was it snowing at the time? how long had the ice been on the sidewalk? was there a clearer alternate path...many things come into play...on all claims but particularly on slip and fall claims....we'd need much more information to help.

Below is post from the OP-Jenny:

i am not sure if the details i just sent were sent. so i am sending them again a different way. i did not see the ice when i went in .the ice was do to the weather. but it was not snowing at the time. when i came out ,we were in the basemnt of the church to leave you walk up the stairs and open the door to a cement sidewalk.i steped out to leave and slipped on the ice and fell. the girlscout meetings are held at the church in wingate.if someone put salt out they didnt put out enough.

Welp I guess you can sue the church...course be prepared for the church to stop allowing ANY group to have meetings there EVER AGAIN, the liability would be too large, (do you feel lucky? personally i might be a little scared to sue a church  )... if all you want is your medical bills taken care of the church will have a policy that will also have med pay, this coverage has nothing to do with negligence or liability...it pays medical bills (only) for injurys that happen on the property...What time of day or night did this happen? What day of the week? Does this church have a full time janitor? How many people went out ahead of you? Have you ever been there before? Was it well lit?

Do you not have health insurance that will take care of this? What are your injurys exactly?

it happened at night time with one security light out by the road, so no it was not very well lit. I'm not real sure if anyone went out ahead of me or not. i have been there before for meetings and not sure about the janitor situation...

I have health insurence but don't really have the money to pay the deductables to go see all the different doctors cause it involves what they think may be nerve damage...

Well Jenny if you are just looking to get your med bills (deductibles and co-pays) handled then call the church and talk to the secretary about who they have their building insurance with, and see about filing a medpay claim...let us know what they have to say

Yes, the church should have Medical Payment coverage to address your medical bills and any loss wages. As far as anything else, the church would need to be liable. There are many questions that would need to be answered... did the church have a chance to place deicing agent down? Was the ice "open and obvious", was the light adequate for the area, has this happened before, etc.
