I'm in Michigan and had a car lit on fire on the street in front of my neighbors house ,. this wasn't my car but was owned by a visitor to a college age party next door.... Someone got in the car afrter it was discovered to be near the fire and drove it in an attempt to get away from the fire. The gas tank was already involved and the driver eventually bailed out. The car continued to move and got onto my property. It finally hit my truck and barn after about a 125 yard journey. The car insurer...Progressive denied the claim for the damage to my truck and home. My house insurer took them to arbitration and won a 100% settlement.
Now I want to recover for my truck and hassle. I have about three thousand dollars of damage to the truck and a great deal of Hassle. How much can I recover?

Well, I can empathize with you and would like to know a couple of things. First of all, please tell me about the kind of damage that has been caused to your truck. Was it damaged due to the fire (after the collision)? Or was it damaged due to the collision only? I guess there were some witnesses when this mishap took place. Did you have a word with your home insurer regarding a possible compensation?

I'm guessing you don't have collision or comprehensive coverage on your vehicle. How much can you recovery? Well, if there is $3000 in damages... $3000.
But _getting_ the money is a different story. You can tell Progressive since they lost on the home, would they also accept paying for your vehicle. My guess is that they won't... as winning in arbitration is not binding on your other loss. You may need to file suit against the at fault party in order to obtain payment.
