You fill out a claim form with your local unemployment office or online of they offer this. They then contact your prior employer(s) and review your information. They will let you know if you qualify. Most states have websites that list FAQ. The FAQ will also explain what qualifications need to be met in order to qualify.

It is applicable to a person who is seeking the job, have the skills but is not able to get the job. Mostly they ask for the employment registrations that you have done previously and yet not able to get it. Mostly the states will let you know by Email once you have submitted the application. Few states may prfer voice call or mailing services. Mostly They they do, when you are selected for the one.

Hi Carolene_Mcb,
You may apply for this insurance through your State Unemployment Insurance Office. You may apply through phone, visit them or apply over the internet. Send in your application as soon as you can, since it would take a few weeks time before you'd get your first check!

Hi there,
Why don't you register with your state employment services office?
They'd surely help you with job training as well as career counseling.
Don't forget your weekly benefits. State guidelines with regards to these benefits would also help you remember your payments.
