I've been looking to get my custom motorcycle covered under a good carrier. Do I find someone? Can you tell me anything about the custom motorcycle insurance benefits?

Wish I could answer your question but I got the same dilemma with you about motorcycle insurance.

Progressive, as much as I don't like Flo on TV is probably your best bet. They will take care of you if you have a claim!

I guess the probability of your custom motorcycle getting damaged is more than that of an ordinary motorcycle. Likewise the chances that it might get stolen are also more. All these factors would certainly make it more difficult to get a custom motorcycle covered.

I guess it's a tough job both for the agents as well as the underwriters to evaluate the true worth of custom motorcycles. I've doubts whether the blue book would help us determine the value of a custom motorcycle.

See, it's pretty tough to get a custom motorcycle replaced. It's so expensive.

Hi there, I'm sure all our friends over here would point towards the cost factor. But you could rest assured that Custom motorcycle insurance is as much necessary for a custom motorcycle as an ordinary motorcycle insurance would be important for an ordinary bike.

progressive, geico, and allstate come to mind. im an allstate agent so im a bit biased, but we do write a good bit of custom bikes in our area as we are very competitive. Check for multi policy discounts for insuring your other assets as there can be a large discount for combing policies. i know from other agents, some companies are more competitive in different areas, so shop around.

as far as benefits, make sure the policy will cover you for the value of the bike, accessories, and liabilty to others including any passengers. documentation is everything at claim time. make sure you have pictures, receipts and even an appraisal if possible. the more you can prove the value of the bike, the more likely you will get the most for it should thier be a loss.

there are several types of policies; replacement, acv and stated value policies to name a few. be sure to compare apples to apples...check with your agent on the best way to cover your bike and which policy is best suited for you. keep in mind each state is a little different, so a policy in GA may be different than a policy in another state.

bottom line, shop around and talk to your local agent to compare features and benefits.
