I have Aflac with my company. They deduct money every pay check. And I get paid weekly. So in since my company is closing down. I want to canel Aflac b/c I will not be able to afford it. Is there a penalty for canceling Aflac?

No. Insurance is known as a unilateral contract. Only the insurer promises to perform . . . you enforce the promise by paying premiums. You have the right to continue your AFLAC coverages in whole or in part by paying the premium directly to AFLAC. You will simply lapse the coverage and lose all benefits by not paying premiums. You cannot be sued by AFLAC for nonpayment of premiums, because you have no contractual obligation to pay them.

If your policy is through payroll deduction, you can only cancel during the month of june.I tried to cancel mine today and i missed the date because i thought you could cancel anytime you want to,and you should its my money now i have to wait a whole year to get rid of it.More bull shi#.

That may be true at your place of employment, but it cannot be said to be true at all places of employment.

i thought you could cancel anytime

This, too, is dependent on your workplace and how the funding for voluntary benefits works. If tied to a "cafeteria plan" it may be true. But if paid for entirely with your after tax money, it might not be true.

The kinds of statements that you have made have only to do with your place of employment.

Call the insurance company to cancel. If your premiums are being paid via payroll deductions, contact your payroll department and terminate the deductions.
