Hit by a semi March 2008. Semi driver took full responsibility, and my car was drivable.
I'm insured by progressive. He is by Great West Casualty.
Progressive told me to take it to their shop, which today says it's totaled.
I see the repair estimate on progressive.com is at $5399,
I still owe $5156, and KBB says I could expect to buy one in my area for around $8000.
2002 Chrysler town and country LE
rear ac tinted windows standard CD player
nothing super special, but nice.
no prior damage, in my opinion excellent condition, no rust, runs great, but 145k miles
Should I expect anything other than paying off the loan (which sucks as I now have no car)... or can I expect at least something to use as a down payment?
Both insurance companies are working on an offer, and I am waiting to hear what they are.
Thanks
Dennis

How could anyone let someone hit them? Probaly a stupid question cause I am sure there are people out there that would. I am an defensive driver myself.

better to be safe than sorry, i personally feel that being a defensive driver is the best. if someone hits you, there is always a risk of getting seriously injured. defensive driving is the safest way of driving. driving is only a way of transport, why drive dangerously?

Go to nada.com, enter your vehicles info. Then use sites like autotrader to find vehicles similar to yours in your area. This should give you an idea of the acv.

The estimate of your car would also depend on the condition it was in before the accident apart from mileage, make, year, additional equipment and its present market value. So we need to know all of that before determining its value.

Hi FAMILY02184
You may also check the Kelly Blue Book site for the value of your car. You can compare the value to the depreciated value of your car after the accident. You may also get help from a body shop that you may know.
