Hit by a semi March 2008. Semi driver took full responsibility, and my car was drivable.
I'm insured by progressive. He is by Great West Casualty.
Progressive told me to take it to their shop, which today says it's totaled.
I see the repair estimate on progressive.com is at $5399,
I still owe $5156, and KBB says I could expect to buy one in my area for around $8000.
2002 Chrysler town and country LE
rear ac tinted windows standard CD player
nothing super special, but nice.
no prior damage, in my opinion excellent condition, no rust, runs great, but 145k miles
Should I expect anything other than paying off the loan (which sucks as I now have no car)... or can I expect at least something to use as a down payment?
Both insurance companies are working on an offer, and I am waiting to hear what they are.
Thanks
Dennis

I too would like another estimate of my cars value from an adjuster. I live in Michigan and have a 2005 Ford 500 SEL, front wheel drive. My daughter just had an accident in it that took out the front passenger fender, severed A/C lines, barely turned over a corner of the hood, destroyed the headlight assembly, but the car remains very road worthy. In fact after the Ford dealer gave the insurance company an estimate of $12,000 the insurance company told me it was undrivable and totalled, yet last night I drove it home 120 miles at 70 MPH and it drove straight, strong, without a hint of vibration or noise, and got 28 MPG! The car has 98,000 miles on it but these are commonly known to last until close to 200,000 miles.
So what would be an adjusters worth that the insurance company may offer me?
What would a typical buy back value be for me to retain the car?
Can I get salvaged title or repaired title in Michigan and can I get insurance on it, at least PLPD?
