Hi InsTeacher,
There is some excellent knowledge here, and this site deserves to be expanded and grown.
Truly, it feels real good to see the way this site has come up!
I completely agree with Lori.
I am not here for the money in any way, but if the forum loses members due to the money (or lack thereof), that'll kinda suck.
Paying towards the member contributions is aimed not only at inspiring the community efforts but also for the 'invaluable time' that the members are investing at the forums. As the community is dedicated to benefit both the novices as well as the expert members, hence we expect the experts to set an example for the newbees through their sharing of insurance knowledge in lieu of money.
Regards,
Lakemen

I certainly agree with all three of you.
When I first found this insurance community, I was just a little bit sceptical (wish I had spellcheck - Lakemen can we get it?), any way, I had a very difficult time in understanding why many of the posts even were allowed to remain on the site.
I would see posts like: "Well hello, boondoggle007, I really don't know anything about this subject, but maybe someone will be along shortlly and answer your question".
Or, how about:
"Hey windshieldwiper, sorry about your accident, I had one once".
These posters were actually paid "something" for this useless material.
I wanted to post something like - "Hey, if you don't know anything about the topic, why don't you post somewhere else", but obviously I couldn't do that.
I, personally, like you InsTeacher, stay away from topics about which I have absolutely no knowledge and there are a lot of those. I have never seen a place where people have had so many auto accidents.
I decided to stay for the challenge, certainly not the money. I have made it a personal goal to do whatever I can to get this insurance forum on the top of Google. If I make coffee money along the way, so be it.
If people come here solely for the money, they would be better off picking up aluminum cans.
We need members who enjoy helping other people solve insurance related issues, in a non-professional way.
We need people who want to be a part of a growing insurance forum community.
We need people who don't always complain!
I'll get down off my soap box now.

:D  If I ever set down and figured it out I'm sure I'm making about minus 100 bucks an hour! ha ha ....It's a nice perk like you said getting coffee money and an ipod ( ) for all the effort is indeed appreciated....We need members who enjoy helping other people solve insurance related issues, in a non-professional way.
Couldn't agree more...If you'll notice though the ones that some times start off with the what might be considered, meaningless remarks ( I don't toally disagree), but I think they just wanted to be 'part' of the conversation and forum, and had genuine empathy for the posters, many have grown to be terrific contributors that you can actually 'watch' grow in their insurance knowledge to a degree that they do NOW know the answers themselves and a few short months ago had no clue! And prove of great benefit to the OP's that really makes me happy when I see that....and know that this knowledge that they now share with others was gained here! That's just awesome in my opinion! We need people who want to be a part of a growing insurance forum community.
We need people who don't always complain
The complaining, you know as my mom used to say, 'you'd bitch if they hung you with a new rope' well there are just people like that. for whatever reason, they just MUST complain about something..and honestly I think they get them weeded out of here pretty quickly as a rule, or they stop it....No one (to my knowledge) was offered or promised a job by joining this site....and anyone planning on making a bundle (for now anyway) is in the wrong place...I personally think that this has turned into a great group of regular contributors and growing daily....and it's happened thru a 'community' of caring folks....and cannot happen with anyone looking for only the money...
Ok off my soap box too (for now! )

Lori,
I agree with you on several of your points, there are several of us here who do not work in the industry, however the industry affects our lives on a daily basis. I had issues with my insurance coverage and had through a thread here figured out the answers. What coverages I should have and etc. Then through this conversation feel that I got to know some of the people here and will conversate with them because I feel that I have gotten to know them. My insurance knowledge has increased greatly here on auto, home and healthcare coverage. I have seen other posters just like you have gain the knowledge and input as I have and am pretty proud of that growth in knowledge that I have gained and seen others gain here.
Thanks for sticking up for the persons here that don't work in the industry Lori, we appreciate it. No offense to anyone else posting here. Enjoy your coffee! :D and continue to do as you do, if it annoys you don't go there. I do want to thank you for your time and your knowledge, I have learned so much from you and do appreciate your input on the forums. :D :D :D

So, as you can see, your work here in answering the OP serves another purpose too, educating us who are here learning. We really do appreciate your time and your patience with us.  :? :?

I think that is an excellent idea. We have all had experiences with insurance in some way or another.
A blog on some of the good ideas or even mistakes we've made in selecting and buying different types of insurance could possibly help someone else who is trying to make an insurance decision.
Many of us have had experiences, some good, some bad, with insurance claims and people need to know the process.
We have also had experiences with insurance agents and people need to know what to look for in a "good" insurance agent.
Your blog could be: http://insuranceexperiences.ampminsure.org
If you want it, just PM Lakemen and have it uploaded to the server.
Once you get the log in information, if you want my help, just PM me.
You can do it!!
