Have you all heard that they are discussing an economic stimulus package that includes an $800 for singles and $1600 for married couples, to pump money back into the economy.

Any one have any updates on this?

Well, we aren't considered poor but we aren't rich either. The poverty level is so high up there, i think we are considered at poverty level by our tax bracket.

From what I understand from yahoo

Quote:

The vast majority of taxpayers would receive tax rebates, totaling $600 for individuals and $1,200 for couples, plus another $300 for each child, with no limit on the number of children. Those earning under $75,000 ($150,000 for couples) would receive the full rebates. Rebates would gradually phase out for those earning more than these income limits.

In a big concession to Democrats, the administration agreed to provide rebates to Americans who paid no income tax last year, as long as they earned at least $3,000. But their rebates would only be $300, and double for couples. They also would get another $300 per child.

Wow! I hope you are right! Thats 600 just for my 2 girls! But don't the spouse have to be a working spouse to get a rebate? How would they know a person made 3,000 to give them the rebate if they don't file taxes on it? Thats weird.

I'll probably waste it on Japanese-exclusive merchandise, like a model of the lovely Rei Ayanami.

Alright, seriously though, this is a good thing, price of gas is way too high, and food is going up along with it. With this, it should give people some cash to help offset this issue until we do something about the fuel issue.

They will check your income with the irs, they can easily get the information there, they would simply pull up a data base, merge it all and hand it over to who ever will issue the checks. It won't be hard for them to do. If you did not file a tax return you probably wont get it. But if your husband claimed you, then it should come as the $1200 for the married couple, then the additional $300 per child. I think this is the way it will work. Did your husband claim you on his taxes hummingbird?

I wish they would hurry up and make a decision it seems the longer they wait and discuss the amount that goes to working couples keeps getting lower and lower. I could agree with them extending the unemployment, and I don't even care if they put more food stamp money out there, most people would use the food stamps, however I am glad that they put the $3000 income bracket on for the tax payers, it makes sense to me, how could you expect to get taxes back that you did not pay in. We have too many people that come into our office who just refuse to go to work, or if they do work they quit a few weeks into the job. Perfectly capable of holding down a full time job, just refuse to do it because they can lay on taxpayers money. I am glad for the income limit because of this population of people who don't want to work and want to be a tax burden instead of paying taxes.

I guess I get a little discourage around tax season any way, when I see the couple of thousands in refunds that these people get just being wasted, they barely work so fit the high income tax bracket to get the most back, they rapid refund and spend it on crap that they don't need and then still expect our programs to do car repairs and pay insurance. They don't even have to report this to welfare for that month, I think the state and federal government would save a ton of money if this income would count for just that one month. I just get really disgusted, when my husband and I both work and we only get back like $500 and pay in so much. Any way, thanks for listening to me whine!! I do it every January.

I have notice a lot of people now are using credit cards to get gas. That should tell you something. We have to buy gas as high as it is and then pay interst on top of that. A tank used to last em a wek now Im lucky if it last 3 days!

I just used my fuel incentives from my local grocery store today, got $1.10 off a gallon, I was so exited, I only paid $1.95 a gallon. Now I have to start all over again, but every little thing counts these days. Yeah, I was so happy, first tank that was below 30 bucks, total sale was like $16.25
