No it would likely be a HUGE mistake, you will lose any 'multicar' discount, and why would you want the headache? What possible purpose would there be in having your vehicles insured with two different carriers? Assuming the same drivers are on both vehicles...

Well buddy it depends, if it helps you in saving some bucks then you may consider insuring them under different insurer. Otherwise, what Lori has said is absolutely correct. You may loose out on multiple car discounts if you go for different carrier.

Hi, IMO it pays off to maintain business with a single insurer. It helps in building a long term relation. I know of some, who have purchased their auto and homeowners insurance from the same carrier. Definitely they enjoys some perks for maintaining all their policies with the same carrier. Moreover, it saves you from the hassle of managing multiple policies.

most insurances offer stacked insurance if you have more than one vehicle on your policy. stacked insurance has more coverage if you have a accident. i have three cars on mine and i have 300 thousand dollars coverage. i think you need to investigate this before makeing a decision.

Just want to clarify something regarding stacking of UM and UIM coverages, ''some'' states automatcially allow this, some prohibit it, and still others offer it for a fee...you will need to check with your state/country.

if you want you can do it. but why, why you want to loose the discount of doing multicar insurance many companies offer you discount so try for that.

there is nothing beneficial to do insurance by different companies

Well, I even do not know much..Everybody over here advised me to get my both cars insured, actually they are my dad's cars, from the same insurance company. My father contacted the company and asked for the benefits. They said that they will insure our second car for an additional 6 months in the cost of 1 year. I am talking about India..

This is the main advantage we were getting and we did not hesitate to get our cars insured.
