State Farm Get Out Of Florida.
We don't want you and we certainly don't need you.
We ARE NOT going to allow you cherry pick what forms of insurance you'll write and what you'll cancel.
GET OUT OF FLORIDA.
You are a disgrace to the insurance industry.
Selling auto insurance to prospect for your overpriced life insurance WON'T WORK.
Please get out of this state and STAY OUT.
I've lost all confidence and respect for your company.
Your agents should go independent and roll every piece of business they control.
Hockey Puck Off, STATE FARM, the fair weather neighbor.

Questions... If I want to sell the tops to widgets is Florida, should I also be required to sell the widgets themselves?
What if I want to become an agent and just sell life insurance, should I be required to sell auto insurance as well?

Whoa, Gar....
You sound a little, ummmm, how do I put this....ahhhhh......upset?? :? :?:
Since I absolutely respect you, I want to learn a little more about this before I pass on any judgment. Can you point me in a direction that gets to the point of your matter without me having to Google the crap out of it? I've dealt with State Farm for years and have never once had a problem, but if I get what I think I get from your post- it sounds like they're trying to get out of writing a lot of business that they formerly wrote in the state. What exactly are they trying to do?
Thanks, bud.

They have stated that they are no longer going to write property policies in Florida (due to the high losses and not being able to increase rates). But they still want to hand pick lines of other coverage to write in Florida.

Tcope is correct.
My beef with State Farm is cherry picking what forms of insurance they will write and what forms they won't.
I think they should be consistant and simply JUST GET OUT OF FLORIDA.
We don't NEED them. There are plenty of quality insurance companies in Florida for auto insurance and life insurance.
Now let me be clear, I'm NOT ranting against State Farm agents. They are innocent victims of corporate greed and exploitation.
What State Farm is doing is WRONG.
I've posted this before that the ONLY reason State Farm wants to write AUTO INSURANCE is because it is a prospecting method for them to sell life insurance.
WE ARE NOT GOING TO LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS.
In fact, Aviva will convert any term insurance policy written by State Farm, AIG and others to permanent insurance WITHOUT any underwriting if the policy was issued standard within the past 36 months.
State Farm is going down. We're going to kick their sorry butts back to Illinois. We don't need them, we don't want them.
Amica is way better auto insurance and AVIVA is the best life and annuity company in the world.
State Farm ppfffppfffttttt! GO AWAY!

competition is never a bad thing for consumers. What State Farm is doing is WRONG.
Why is selling certain lines of coverage... "wrong"? That is, they are offering people coverage... how is that a bad thing?Posted: Fri May 08, 2009 10:53 am Post Subject:
Hmmmmmmm, I'm going to have to resort to using reverse rhetoric on tcope.
How is cancelling people's homeowners insurance a good thing. Business liability? Renter's insurance? State Farm is NOBODY'S competition and we are going to kick their sorry assterisks back to Illinois FOR GOOD.
We don't want them in Florida.
Why do they want auto insurance? ONLY as a prospecting method for life insurance. Auto insurance is tremendous service work. The reason there are two assistantants in every State Farm office is because one agnet could never handle the massive amount of service work that goes along with auto insurance.
Without auto insurance State Farm is OUT OF BUSINESS. No State Farm agent can compete with real life insurance companies. They have to get in the back door with auto insurance then offer you a 5% discount for grossly overpriced LIFE INSURANCE.
Bring it on State Farm....we'll compete....GO HOME!
Wheeeewwwww, I feel better now!

Same argument... not an answer. Why do they want auto insurance? ONLY as a prospecting method for life insurance.
Simply even more rhetoric.Bring it on State Farm....we'll compete....GO HOME!
So your saying despite their current business plan they will be driven out of Florida by competition? Or are you saying that they need to be cut off at the knees in order to fail?Wheeeewwwww, I feel better now!
My mistake... I thought there was a point. :)I never said what SF was doing was right or wrong... just wondering what your rational was. One more "question"... how many people does SF employee in Florida (by "employee" I mean pay them money so that they can support their families) and how much tax revenue do they generate for the State?

State Farm isn't anyone's competition for life insurance.
They are NOT competitive. They are overpriced. They are not a good neighbor. They are fair weather friends ONLY.
I personally want them out of the state of Florida.
GET OUT and STAY OUT!
That's my stand!

Source linky.
The state's biggest private homeowners insurer, in a move sure to have hundreds of thousands of Florida residents scrambling for a way to cover their homes, said Tuesday that it is pulling out of Florida's rocky homeowners insurance market over the next two years
"They probably charge about the highest rates in the state anyway,"' Gov. Charlie Crist said. "I think Floridians will be much better off without them."
He said State Farm has agreed to move all of its auto insurance business into the State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co., a national company that sells only auto insurance. State Farm Florida is a stand-alone, Florida-only entity created specifically to sell property coverage.
State Farm said in a full-page ad taken out in several Florida newspapers today, including The Palm Beach Post, that it will continue to offer life, health and automobile insurance in the state.
The latter is despite a 2007 state law pushed by Crist to prevent insurers from offering only lucrative auto coverage if they offer both auto and homeowners in other states. That's because it appears that the law may not apply to State Farm, Florida's largest auto insurer with more than 3 million policies, according to Office of Insurance Regulation spokesman Ed Domansky.
Don't buy life insurance from State Farm.

Gary, I don't understand.
Insurance Company XYZ sells Products 1,2,3, and 4.
In a certain state, the pricing constraints make it impossible to sell Product 1 for a profit. Why should a company be forced to sell a product that will hurt the company's bottom line and their financial strength?
If the state is going to say that you can't sell Products 2,3, and 4 if you don't sell 1, and the company leaves the state, how does creating less competition for those products help the consumers of that state.
Gary, I hope that nobody comes to you and says "Gary, you can't sell any more $1,000,000 WL policies unless you sell car insurance also."
