Promises Made-Promises Broken
This thread is dedicated to the discussion of SHC's business practices, agent and management [mis]conduct. Representations made to new agents about leads, marketing, and commissions, management structure, travel requirements, and agent impound / equity / hold-back accounts.
This is, by no means, a place to slander. libel, or defame SHC. Any such posts will be eliminated. My purpose is to gather information from as many sources as possible and use this to "help" that company with their future business practices/agent relations.
I am hopeful this can be done without litigation and the media attention a class action lawsuit would surely generate.

Chargers, remember what a multi-level marketing scam is all about - anybody who is there for any length of time is promoted to management. At SHC, if you get through the initial "learning curve" where almost everyone around you quits or is forced out, making the first tier (trainer/manager) could take as little as three to six months - simply because no matter how bruised you are financially, you're the last person standing. That doesn't mean you're any better off. I've seen a second-tier manager have to give up his house and move back in with his mom. It's just that promotions are essential to convey the illusion of success to all the base level consultants. And for the newly minted trainer/managers, they're encouraged to fake it until they make it, just like any other MLM. The ones I know are still there faking it, waiting for that big payday.
This is SHC preying on human psychology. Once you've been promoted in an MLM structure, it's hard to walk away from the seemingly closer promise of unlimited income, especially since you've just gone through months of hazing and privation and feel you deserve a return on investment. It's also harder to question the company's ethics when you've been immersed - I'll reluctantly stop short of saying brainwashed - for the last few months. I know. I've been there, and I felt all of this.
Ultimately, anyone who has been there for any period of time becomes part of management, part of the machine and part of the problem. Of the few who last this far, some keep their sense of morals about them and find the strength to walk away. For the others, money - or more likely the promise of money - overrides all that. Remember that sociopaths are often attracted to full commission sales. They'll say anything to get a check, and they don't care who they screw over to get ahead. Their fellow agents, prospective agents, their managers, even the elderly. It doesn't matter to them.

SHC RIPOFF, good catch on Chambers being on the GAFRI board. Didn't know that. I wonder if that has something to do with most of the GAFRI companies being downgraded on May 10 of this year...UTA, CGI, CRL, and Provident American are now at B++ and Loyal American is now at A-. I also wonder if SHC is still trumpeting GAFRI as an A rated company...they didn't seem to have a problem with saying SHC was rated A+ by the BBB when they weren't last year. Are there any recent SHC people out there who can answer that one?
I also wanted to add that working under a general agent isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you're getting return on investment in exchange for manager overrides, it can be a mutually beneficial relationship. If, however, you're paying a fistful of money to everyone above you and getting nothing but screamed at for not making the sale*, it may be time to consider working direct and selling for street level commission.

Please anyone considering this opportunity - really think long and hard before paying the upfront fees. It's clear what the one blogger stated about the $599 -$999 is outrageous when SHC has clearly stated about the MAJOR turn around at their company. Most people can't make it their because of their tatics - long hours, appointment fees, gas, hotel expenses, printing everything, faxing to their 214 number cost you long distance and the most important is the payroll. This company sucks at payroll, they say they have thousands working for them but only Mr. Brian Corder does the payroll. If you want consistency in your payroll so you can pay your bills on time - don't invest any time or money with SHC! Mr Richard Dale Jr., Mr. Brian Corder, Mr. Rob Douglas, Mr Fritz Simonson, and all other management are "growing wealthy off the innocent as majority of the people who have worked for them have been their PREY!!" Don't fall into their spiderweb because once you do it could be the end of you finicially. So save yourself the hardship and stress and pursue your future with a company that will pay you for your time and efforts!!

Everything posted is true. They withhold your money. If you don't sell your preset appointments you have to knock doors the make quota. They won't pay you if you don't make quota. I had many leads from people on Medicaid, didn't qualify, or already had a better plan. MOO won't touch them and other companies as well. It is nothing but a scam to get your renewals, period. They pay horrible commissions and kept your renewals. In the training class the won't let you exchange addresses or phone numbers. Now I know why. Can you say class action suite. If you have an appointment within 90 miles its a fluke. Most of my appointments were 3 or 4 hours away.

I'm wanting everyone that has been scammed by them to write on this website. We need to all get together and write to Dept of Texas INS to try and revoke their license. Then the BBB about their employees tatics. Then we need to write to GAFRI and all other companies that they are appointed with. I seriously want to get one of the MAJOR - Investigative shows to pursue them so the 100's of people daily they are trying to recruit - RUN!! They need to be STOPPED!!

Here's the dirty truth though - we can write to the Texas Department of Insurance all we want, I guarantee you that TDI will do absolutely nothing to stop these frauds. Most state DoIs are firmly in the pockets of the insurance companies and general agents. In fact, I hear TDI has already been given quite enough information on these clowns to shut them down, and TDI did nothing with the documents except send them on to SHC.
Looks like GAFRI doesn't really care how SHC scams people either - they wouldn't have rewarded an SHC top manager with a position on their board otherwise. Guess money is more important than principle to them.
I love the idea of getting media exposure on Senior Healthcare Consultants. Getting national TV coverage would be delicious but something like that is always a tough sell to the networks as they're besieged with 1000 ideas a week. Still, SHC has been so blatant in their abuses that it might well go down like this, and as they've lied to seniors as well, this gives shows like Dateline the powerful incentive of a strong viewership demographic. Personally, I would like nothing more than to see Chris Hansen cornering Richard Dale Jr. and Brian Corder. Good luck getting answers from them though - I never got any.
I'm thinking in the meantime, maybe I should put up a website laying all the information I have out there just so people know what an SHC career would really be like. The work schedule, the mileage, the broken promises, the unpaid commission, the lousy commission rates, the fudging on holdback percentages, the paranoid missives from the sociopaths at the top... At least then I could sleep at night knowing I've done all I can to warn people away from these bozos.

I have been watching this website for a long time!!! And the upper management has finally pushed me to TELL THE TRUTH about SHC / RJR Insurance!!!
They have once again BROKEN or NOT FOLLOWED THROUGH WITH THEIR WORD by NOT PAYING ME MY RENEWALS and my COMMISSIONS!!! This is very typical for them to be way behind or never get as what is happening with me now!!!
They leave me no choice but to POST THE TRUTH ABOUT SHC / RJR INSURANCE!!!!
For all of you wondering about who has been there longer than a few months - I was with them for 3 1/2 years. Yes, I said 3 1/2 years - 3/2007 - 6/2010. I had to leave them since I couldn't get my renewals on time or get my matured commissions from my escrowed paid out. This was a consistent situation throughtout my time with the company. I never could get paid on time or seldom get Mr Brian Corder to answer my emails or phonce calls.
I'm gonna post emails to prove what I'm saying is the TRUTH about SHC being one of the WORST PAYORS in the BUSINESS!!!
It's not the PRODUCTS they have it's the PEOPLE that PAY YOU are the WORST -ALONG with lack of communication. If your not in the TOP of the PRODUCING for them and willing to SACRIFICE your LIFE for them!!! I would suggest you look elsewhere!!!!
They are not an INSURANCE company they are only a company that becomes a MIDDLE MAN that will get you appointed with GAFRI products which right now is LOYAL
AMERICAN - good company but now the best plan they offer is a MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT PLAN F and most states their premium is not competitve with others.
I know they are currently working to lower their premiums but until then it can be a hard sale. I do know they are working to get appointed with GERBER which I suggested to them back in NOVEMBER but I don't know where the status of that is since I decided I had enough the DRAMA and WORKING to not get paid!!!!
PLEASE KNOW I worked in the PRESET for 8 months and was VERY SUCCESSFUL the first couple months until the MEDICARE ADVANTAGE was HALTED by the GOVERMENT in 6/2007.
My husband and I traveled down to TEXAS in 6/2007
and was wined and dined by Mr Rob Douglas and Mr David Croom. We stayed at the lodge off the BONUS POINTS, I had earned and was treated very well!!!
I was one of the TOP PRODUCERS and then WON a TRIP to meet the management in 7/2007!!!! But the inexperience traveler I was in flying messed up on my flight thinking it was at 10:30 but to my reality it was the flight number and my flight was at 8:30AM so I messed up and missed it completely and was basically LET GO for my mistake or say LOCKED out of the SYSTEM!!!
This is only the BEGINNING with many situations in that 8 months that I will post to come!!! What I want to say and PROVE they completely are not a company to trust on getting your payroll when your suppose too!!! Here is the most recent situation that I have to PROVE THIS!!!! I started to ask for a release on my escrow account back in 5/19/2010 and got no where, plus my renewals were not getting posted from the FREE LEAD DIVISION that I joined in 11/2007 since I could no longer DRIVE daily 2 1/2 hours from my house with children at home and majority of my appointments couldn't qualify or didn't want me there!!!
So I finally told them I had to LEAVE as I was NOT GETTING PAID for the time I had spent building my clientele for the past couple years!!! Plus I know have an ATTORNEY to help me get PAID!!!!
Here is the last email I got from BRIAN and he won't answer any emails and voicemails. They have been served a letter from my attorney about my requests below BUT knowing them I will never see a dime!!!! So once again I suggest you stay CLEAR from SHC / RJR INSURANCE!!!!
When reading I did feel that any company wishing to clear something up that has been going on since 5/19/2010 would have had my issue at the TOP OF THE LIST!!! At least I would want anyone that is as persistent as I am to get off my back!!!! But remember all I wanted was to get PAID!!!!

I don't have some data back from the carriers needed in order to fully reconcile your account and give you final payout amounts. Richard is going to be out of town until after the 4th of July so this will have to wait until after then. If you have an attorney I'd rather speak with him/her if at all possible. If not, you will not be receiving communication from me until after the 4th of July. We do intend to come up with a fair and reasonable solution for you as you have produced business for us in the past, but like you said, we are not able to move forward in a working relationship any longer. Please confirm that SHC is gonna do the following:
Deposit into my bank account TODAY all the money from my ESCROW account that has matured and no longer an ADVANCE. Then SHC will continue to pay out the remaining ESCROW balance that matures on a monthly basis until the complete $3200+ has been paid. This money is commissions I earned from GAFRI that was paid to SHC to be paid to me.
Second, that SHC will continue to pay me my monthly renewals from the FREE LEAD division -11/2007 - on the last Friday of each month - 100% - since each and everyone of these policies were not part of the PRESET division and all were generated by myself. That SHC will continue to py these as long as any of the policies are in the books and this will be done automatic with no reoccurring of myself to have to remind SHC to post these. This Friday, my next monthly renewals are due to be paid by SHC.
Finally, my appointment w LOYAL - GAFRI - my main concern is my seniors. Please contact me immediately so we can try to put the final agreement between the two of us.

It's clear to me by no RESPONSE for almost a week that the future with SHC is a past thing.
So I need to finalize the following items:
ESCROW - over $2000 + will be matured on 7/1/2010 - I wish for SHC to please pay out this FRIDAY all that has matured prior to the 7/1/2010 date. That amount is around $1500+ which is no longer and advance. This is money that GAFRI paid you and I'm entitled to the commissions since they have matured. Then the remaining to be paid out just like the renewals at the end of the month until the remaining $1700+ has completely matured.
RENEWALS - I have been with SHC since 2/2007 - I personally feel I'm entitled to all of the ones from the FREE LEAD program - 11/2007 and on - since these are ones on the book that I generated with NO HELP of SHC. But if you feel otherwise that SHC is entitled to part of my renewals that you give me - please send me today what your offering to me for my 3 years and 4 months on staff. As SHC already gets part of the renewals that GAFRI pays for them. Please note that the renewals should still continue to be posted the last Friday of each month.
Contract with GAFRI - we need to discuss this as all of my current clients are ones that in my HOME COUNTY and I personally generated. I would like to personally talk to you about this issue so we can resolve the items address as soon as possible, perferably today since I have been addressing them for quite some time.
Please also know that the contract with RNA - I'm not worried about - you can terminate it.
Please understand I wish to have closure ASAP so I can move on and proceed with my future.
