Patience is the key, my friend. There are many insurance agents who have experienced difficulties in getting businesses in their first years. Have you discussed this issue with your co-agents or seniors? I'm sure that they would have helped you with suggestions.
Moreover, try all the means available to you to reach out to people, advertise in the local newspapers and channels. Have you received an existing book of business from the company? If not, then may be that's the way to go.
Best of luck!!

Okay, how many times have you asked the existing customers about references? That's the best method to get qualified leads. What Boxfullofrocks has said is right, communication holds the keys to success in insurance business. I've seen the local insurance agents appearing at the fairs and gatherings to exchange business information. More people come to know about you, more your business will grow.

It is always good to start with natural market such as your relatives, friends, ex-colleagues or anyone who already know and trust you. At the same time, you can also get some referrals from them to expand your prospect list.

Hi,
Let me tell you my friend...life is never a cakewalk...every bread that you take tastes better if it is hard earned...you say it is a captive company..so I guess you already have a team working around you in the same direction. Why don't you accompany them at different sales promotion campaigns! (I'm sure its much better to inherit the skills gradually but steadily).
Have a word with your manager and see if you could be allowed to concentrate upon selling (only) for some time rather than recruiting...recruitment is another challenging task for you and you can't really be good at both things initially...rather you should try one thing at a time.

If you are having problems as a new agent with your leads. Then perhaps you might want to consider the organization you are working with. There is a great organization that offers leads at no cost and has an ongoing program that markets to clients on a weekly bases.

Well, my friend, the business may go tardy in the initials days for a new agent, at times its because of the inexperience of the agent and at times due to the market conditions. And, in this present scenario, I'd say that you need to have patience and hang tight. If you just learn the hard lesson at the beginning of the trade you would excel in the future. Let me tell ya that its always difficult to make the first sale and its never a cakewalk.
Regards,
Juanita

Leaving cards on all doors won't solve your problem..you've to reach out to the right people. There are two ways that may help you to reach out faster- one is tele-calling and the other one being online marketing.

What do you think just by changing the company you will win over those problems. No way!! These are problems which are industry specific not company specific. So even some days after you change your employer & moved over to some lucarative high paying company,is there any excuse for prospecting? is there any excuse for lead generation. NO
It is the integral part of the business. do not run away from the problem. Rather face it you will get your success (in terms of money too)
