Does the Weather really affect sales?
I had an agent tell me that when the weather is bad outside, they try and stay home and not make any appointments or prospect.
But I would think that more prospects would be home in bad weather.
In great weather, they would be out doing more and would be busier, I would think.
If it is raining for example, they could not be outside working in the yards or would be more limited to the things they could do. They might have more time for you.
So, does weather really matter? Do people buy more in the summer then the winter, or on bad weather day’s verses good weather days?

Well, in some worst cases weather definitely affect sales. Assume it's a heavy snow fall & it's not possible to go outside. What can the agents do??Make cold calls or complete some pending work..what else? Insurance needs paper work & if the agent is not able to visit the client;he/she will loose business.

i agree on this front that one will be able to grab the business from the clients irrespective bad weathers but if the weather conditions are very severe i.e.catrina then it is not question of business rather question of survival.

Ya, but there are people who will do anything to get more business. These kind of people are just crazy about money
But if you take a look at other side. Some agents will go out in bad weather also because they love their profession more than anything.

I absolutely love it when it rains. I have far less cancelled appointments and no shows on rainy weather days. Few people willingly go out to do routine errands in nasty weather.
Moods vary with weather, but how much it affects buying habits would be hard to tell. It is proven, however, that a full moon does actually impact the mood, attitude, and personality of individuals. Being that our body is mostly comprised of fluid, the full moon affects us in much the same way that it affects the tides (high / low / etc). As an EMT, I run far more interesting calls near full moon!
The only way that I can really see negative weather affecting sales is failure to complete the appointments.

I've heard about this.
Have you ever experienced the impact? does is really affected your business?

if one analyze it by the logic of psychology then it is OK and can be accepted that the moon does affect the emotions of humans and has a great impact on majority of emotional aspects.
but scientifically no one has proved it...

The full moon ABSOLUTELY has been proven to affect the human body. Here are a few examples of the scientific proof!
1. In a study of 1000 surgeries done by the Florida Medical Association - 82% of all postoperative bleeding crises occurred near the full moon. As a result, most surgeons will schedule fewer surgeries around a full moon because of the increased likelihood of unwanted bleeding.
2. Miami Dade tracked their murder rate for 15 years (1,887) and found that the phases of the moon and the number of murders was directly linked infallibly for the entire 15 year period.
Other common studies have included traffic accidents, births (delivered and conceived), nursing home behavioral changes, psychiatric admissions, etc.
I have never tried to track a difference in sales due to the changes, but it's possible! Anything that can affect our mood will impact sales. Ever wonder why companies spend millions of dollars making their showrooms asthetically pleasing?

I'd second Chris's theory about the connection between the behavioral change and full moon.
I have experienced that people tend to do more shopping in the sunny and bright days than the dull and depressing climates. But here I'm talking about FMCG and accessories and cloths. May be during the gloomy days people get more interested in pondering over the serious issues like insurance and money.

Hey all..
I feel it's all about creating opportunities for promotions. If it's a 'Sunday' people are more likely to stay out of business..they won't even like to talk business over the phone with you..but rest assured this is a day most tele-marketers would look forward to. It's their day to catch up with those prospects/clients who'd otherwise be heard over answering machines!
I guess it's gonnabe the same with rainy days..

Full moon or no moon; but I agree with the above statement. Keep your mind fresh. Concentrate only on your work. Keep all our problems & worries aside while working.
