Life insurance can be seen as an income replacement for dependents. It is less expensive when a man is younger and heatheir and that's why it is related to the events like marriage, having kids and the like. So it is advisable that you assess your own need according to your age and then decide.
Thanks.

Yep...good advice, TIM. You don't want to pay alot of money for something you really don't need. However, I've been looking into different Life Insurance policies for 'specific' things. So far, it's been difficult. I'm given policies with things I'm not interested in, etc. from different insurance companies. A few of them can be pushy. If they're pushy like that, who would want to do business with them in the first place?

SD - Here we go again with life insurance in the Auto Forum :)
Life events should trigger a life insurance discussion with someone knowledgeable. Not saying it has to be an insurance agent - it could even be info derived from a Google search. Marriage, birth of first child, or additional children are some of the life events that come to mind.
So instead of age being a factor, I say responsibility for other people should be the deciding factor. After all, you don't buy life insurance for you. Is the insured going to spend the proceeds? You get it for the people you love and want to provide for.

Yes, there are many different ages, or events, that may trigger the need for a person to buy life insurance.
Throughout your life there may be several different events that lead to buying a life insurance policy.
Among those events may be the following:
1. Getting married.
2. Buying a home.
3. Having children.
4. Getting a new job.
5. Providing for a favorite charity.
6. Adopting children.
7. Retirement.
Other reasons people may want to consider the purchase of a life insurance policy would include: To provide money to pay for a funeral, burial plot, final expenses, casket, and memorial service.
Or, to provide money for your family to continue their current lifestyle, for your spouse's retirement, the kids college education, or funds to pay off your mortgage, or any other debt you and your family may have.

Maybe the moderator will need to rensfer the post to the right place. Hadley I think you listed some very important factors here when considering just how much and what protection you need.

We all as mothers try to think ahead for our children. You seem like a great mom. If you haven't found anything yet just keep looking there has to be something out there for you.

Since the thread is a very old one we haven't changed them all when we changed the names of the forums (yeah, there were no auto, home and health forum before). Its not known to our new members. Hence I thought of spilling the secret  to avoid confusions :D
So, no apologies SD if there is anyone to be blamed that would be me :)
