I have filed an insurance claim for Hail damage for roof. The adjuster came in and processed the claim. I got a check for Roof Repair cost - Deductible - Depreciation adjustment. I was told by the insurance company that i can get the depreciation adjustment amount reimbursed when i get the work completed and provide them proof of work completion.

Now i had called couple of contractors and they looked at my roof and they said there is hail damage signs on the roof but my roof doesn't need to be necessarily replaced.

So now my questin is can i keep the money without getting the work done? :?:
Since i wont provide any proof of work completion and request for reimbursement of depreciation adjustment amount from my insurance company will my company close the claim after 180 days or will they come behind me to get the work completed?

I assume you do not have any form of written agreement from the "landowner" that describes the arrangement you stated above.

If that's true, then you have a "he said-she said" dilemma on your hands.

Your claim for $2000+ can be taken to small claims court, where the outcome, in the absence of a written agreement, is determined by who tells the judge the most believable story.

Just watch Judge Judy or The People's Court to get a good idea of what I mean by the statement: May the best liar win.

Lesson to be learned: If you want something done right, sometimes you just have to do it yourself.

I have a pool that got damaged by a fallen tree branch. My insurance agent looked at the pool and determined it was non repairable. I then got a quote from a pool company to remove the damaged pool and replace it with a comparable quality pool, which was a lot more than the insurance company quoted me for. After the insurance agent and the pool company talked, the insurance issued me a check for the quote the pool company gave me. Well during this time I was able to make sufficient repairs to the damaged pool that I no longer need it replaced. Also note that after the claim the insurance company dropped us. Now for the dilemma; Should I now just keep the money, should I give it back, or should I just get the new pool?? (The pool that was damaged is currently being used with no problems.)

Should I now just keep the money

Yes

should I give it back

No

or should I just get the new pool??

That's up to you to decide. If the one you have is now working, use the money to buy new insurance instead.

I filed a claim for water damage and had an adjuster come out he then had his supervisor come and asses now they're telling me a third adjuster will be contacting me? IM confused why would so many adjusters need to asses? At this point I feel like this claim is not worth it. Can I still cancel my claim?

my husband had me file a claim for some roof damage about 2 years ago ... he then said we didn't need it repaired and he spent the money (10k) ... about six months after receiving the check I noticed we had water coming into the front window of the house ... my husband told me to call the insurance company and file another claim ... I called and talked to the lady to see how it all works and how do I go about getting the roof replaced and refunded the difference of the cost minus the 10k ... she told me that we had six months to replace the roof but since we didn't they could not give us any more money ... I had someone come out and patch the leak (500 bux) because my husband still did not want a new roof ... we now have mold on the ceiling in the middle portion of the house ... my husband and I are splitting up and he wants to buy me out and is saying the house will not appraise for much because of the mold and not to get the house appraised because they will see that I am a fraud ... he doesn't want me to contact the insurance company either and said since I was the one for filed the claim (even though he was the one who talked to the guy who came out) that I would get in trouble for insurance fraud and go to jail ... I am the one living in the house at the moment ... what should I do? Should I call them? I don't want to ruin my credit or worse, go to jail for insurance fraud!

Call them for what? The mold? It sounds like the mold is there because you did not have the roof repaired correctly. Also, mold is usually excluded. You are not clear as why you'd call the insurance company.

You are really not obligated to spend the money to repair the home. That is, the insurance company won't care if this it was not spent to repair the home. They may not renew the policy if they find out though.

A claim was put in to have roof done but the homeowner wanted other work done instead of roof and contractor did it. Is that fraud?

I am in the process of closing on a house in texas, the night before the closing we did a walk through, we found a large amount of water on the flooring, so we could not close because the insurance co of the seller stated they had to still own the house to file a claim, well the insurance adjustor came out and did a quote for the work he felt needed to be done. now the insurance company has not approved the adjustors amount and reduced the amount they were going to pay on the claim, I have never heard of that before, the insurance adjustor works for the insurance co, why would they change the amount?

The insurance company has the final say on all claims.
