All licenses in the insurance industry are issued under the authority of the state, however, the federal Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act (18 USC 1033, 1034) specifies that persons who have committed certain felonies are prohibited from being involved without a consent waiver from the state regulator. If your felony specifically involved a money or property crime, among others, you will need the waiver. There is no statute of limitations on when the crime/conviction occurred.

I had a conviction for principle to attempted robbery in 1993 in Florida and have had a clean record since I moved to Dallas Texas in 2002. I finished the sentence imposed in May 2006. Will I be able to become a licensed all-lined insurance adjuster in Texas? I've been employed with a well recognized grocery chain for almost 14 years and 10 of those years and currently I've held an upper management position.

I was working under an emergency license out of Florida until recently. My employer (at the time) filled out my application for emergency license on my behalf (without my knowledge) and did not disclose a Grand Theft charge I had 6 six years ago. Keep in mind...I was BRAND NEW at this company and did not even realize that what I was doing required a license. I did not even know I was getting an emergency license until the day I got the email with my license number.
So three months later I receive a certified letter from the State of Florida stating that my license had been revoked due to my record (that I never had an opportunity to disclose) and that I cant reapply for two years. I called the licensing office who tells me that the revocation is ALSO on my record?!?!? And any other state I apply to will see that. I am beyond irate and am wondering if there are any options available to me.
Is it even possible to get another license in another state after a record showing it was revoked in a different state?
The Grand Theft charge happened years ago and Im not even calling that part in to question. I understand the "moral turpitude" aspect of things and have a prepared statement along with a letter of recommendation from a state senator I am familiar with that I present whenever I disclose the arrest. It has literally never been a problem until now....and is only now a problem because I was not given the opportunity to disclose. Is there any hope of this being removed from my record? Should I just give up on the idea of becoming an adjuster?
I just need a little direction from someone who knows more about this than I do. Any thoughts are appreciated :)

Adjudication withheld on a charge of Grand Theft 6 years ago. No jail time. Just probation and restitution which are both complete. Nothing on record before or after. Will Alabama even consider my adjuster license app?
