Auto Insurance with Geico?

My son is about to get his license so I figured this was a good time to review my insurance coverage and I've been pricing out different companies. So far I've looked at:

State Farm
Allstate
Nationwide
Progressive
USAA
Geico
MetLife

and quite possibly a few others that I don't recall. I've found that Geico is the cheapest by ~$300/year.

Anyone have experiences with them? Will they be a hassle to deal with if I need to deal with them? I've had to deal with State Farm twice and they were great both times.

I personally have my auto insurance with GEICO, and the one small claim we had involving a truck tire that damaged the front bumper and fender of my wife's car. It was resolved on the spot at my wife's place of employment three days after I filed the claim online. Just had to make an appointment with the shop to do the work. That took just a few days once they had the parts on hand. I was completely satisfied. I think my premiums are too high, but I haven't found any lower.

I've had Geico for many years and I was very much pleased with them. To me they are significantly cheaper than any other provider in the states.

They were very firm about hunting down the owners who hit my car in the past years and really help me get my money back.

I work for an auto insurance company and have been using USAA since 2002. I just love their service and not in a mood to switch!! :)

That's nice to hear. Not everyone is eligible for their products and services.

I am kinda biased when it comes to this question. I am a claims adjuster for Geico, also a customer as well so I say go with Geico. However that being said "dealing with" just depends on the situation you are in when you have to call some issues like max said their situation was very simple and easy to handle other claims are far more complex injuries pip etc... Can make the claims experience less than ideal to be in.

Great input! Thanks. Return here often with your insights.

(And maybe you can find out why I haven't benefitted from the GEICO rate reductions in CA. LOL)

I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about USAA but when I reached out to them the rates they quoted me were around 20%-30% higher than others for collision and comprehensive.

Personally, I don't have anything to do with GEICO since I have got my car insured with State Farm and they've been way more than fair with me all these years.

However, I know of an acquaintance who's got GEICO for almost two decades now, and according to him, he's satisfied with their service.

I’ve had Geico for more than a decade and I must say that the worst part of their is the ads, which I almost don’t see anywhere. I’ve had 4 claims with them. Initially, they tried to send me to some cheap repair shops but when I told them the place where I wanted to get the work done, they just said okay. So GEICO is good and I’ve referred them to many of my friends and relatives.

Why is that GEICO always charges me around 50% higher than others? It just awes me to hear about GEICO's most competitive rates, but then, I couldn't find one.

Anyone has got anything to say about this!
