About what exactly? He tried to kill you? How? How old are you? Where is your mother, grandparents etc?

Maybe, but first I'd like to make sure this isn't a hoax....What city and state are you in? I'm sure it was in the newspaper right?

Its important you state your personal circumstances. It's not that easy to take out a life insurance solely because someone threatened to kill you. It actually shuns insurance companies as you make it all the more risky. In insurances, the risk is distributed as among members. If the risk posed for which you wanted to get the policy exposes them to liability, it will make them back out.

Do you see what I mean? :)

I think you misunderstood the OP or I did, I believe the OP is saying that her dad tried to kill her for an insurance policy he had ALREADY taken out...that's the way I read it not that she is wanting one because her life was threated.

Oops! Yah, I misunderstood that one. I thought all the while she's taking a policy because someone threatened to kill her. My apologies...
It spells a world of difference in insurance. Thanks for pointing it out Lori. :)

OH Lisa! Honey I'm just in shock! I can't imagine what you must be going thru. Are you ok? Is the force that he's on the same one handling this investigation? Is there any danger of him getting out? If so have you applied for a restraining order? I'm sorry, I'm just worried terrible for you now, you're the same age as my daughter...What on earth would a father do such a thing for? :? You suspect (I guess) that it was money motivated? Are you safe now?

I think I would start with the insurance company he has at work and see if there is a policy there. The police I'm sure are investigating the same thing...Also, if you can go thru his papers, cancel checks etc, look for his proof of insurance for his cars and call that company. Or if you know the company or his agent call them and inquire. Unfortunately there isn't a clearing house or any place that you can check this kind of thing, you just have to do some detective work on your own. There is an ins investigator that posts here regularly too, I'll send him a message to see if he has any other ideas...

Please let us know how you are...and how this is progressing, I'm gonna be wondering and worrying about you, agaiin I'll send the ins investigator a pm....

Its really diheartening to read your story. It is really unfortunate that your father is trying to kill you just for the sake of money. It is better you get separated with him at once.

Lisa, I'm so glad you checked back in, I wish I could be of more help to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. If you'd like I'm sure there are many that are pulling for you keep us updated. And as I said, I'd sent a pm to the insurance investigator and feel fairly confident that he will reply at some point.....good thoughts and prayers to you and your family

I just got back from a few days up in Shasta County, CA. I've been chasing some agents who've made quite a bit of money ripping off teachers. Americo is the company and it appears as though a huge lawsuit is in order.

Unfortunately, I see more of these cases than I'd like to. They are usually motivated by greed, drugs, desperation, (D) all of the above.

It is not difficult at all for someone to take a policy out on you without your knowledge. As long as they have the required information and know someone in the business. I've investigated several of these. Look at my website to see more.

I'd call the District Attorney's office and ask them to look into the case. If the police are really on your side, they'll support any investigation that is brought. Stay on good terms with the local police and just watch your back.
