I quit my job because I had a serious illness and couldn't perform at work. I claimed temporary disability for 3 months and now I'm searching for a job. Can I get unemployment benefits while looking for a job in CA? I'm really suffering from this unemployment after disability.

You must be able to work and actively seeking work to receive UI benefits. If you are disabled and cannot work at all, you cannot collect UI payments.
An earlier post asked about being unemployed as a nurse, but not wanting to look for work outside the nursing profession. You are free to do that, but you will be denied UI benefits. Work is work, and you might think it's beneath your "professional" skill level, but the government doesn't care. If you are only willing to accept certain jobs, you won't qualify for UI benefits.

I got laid off in 2009 and became disabled in 2011, got denied since I have NOT worked in 2010?? Why? What can I do? Please help. God Bless You

The rules under federal law require that you have qualifying wages in the 12 months prior to applying for unemployment insurance benefits. Since you had no wages in the required time period, your claim must be denied. Additionally, to be eligible for UI benefits, you must be able to work and actively seeking employment.
There are other "entitlement" programs which may be able to assist you. If your disability prevents you from performing "any substantial gainful activity", you may qualify for Social Security Disability if you meet the minimum eligibility guidelines, including being currently or fully insured.
There are also SSI (supplemental security income) and SSP (supplemental security payments) each of which has a different set of eligibility guidelines.
And your state and local county agencies may have other forms of public assistance available, including TANF, food stamps, and Medicaid.

I have been on disability from 03/24/11 till 09/01/11 I went to my job to give them my doc release me to work on the 1st and was laid off for lack of work.Can I get unemployment.? A year ago they cut my hours from 40 to 20 hrs so I know they have no work for me. :([

Possibly. In order to qualify fo unemployment insurance benefits, you must be (a) able to work and (b) actively seeking work. If you fit both of those criteria, then the only thing that would prevent you from receiving UI benefits is your eligibility period earnings. Without sufficient eanings in the "test" peiod, you are not qualified for a benefit.

I was hospitalized for 2 weeks emergency surgery and off work for 3 months then went back to work for 6months and I was laid off of work 3/3/11 from a 70k a year job(downsizing)and my Dr. put me on disability on 4/14/11. I have had operations and will be released to find work on 1/1/12 do I qualify for unemployment? And do I have to accept a minimum wage job to keep unemployment ?.

I was on disability through my employer. I am now able to go back to work, but have not been able to find a job. Am I able to collect unemployment?

It depends on whether you have qualifying wages or not. Apply for the benefit and you will either get it or you won't. If you don't get it, write to Obama and see if he's still giving out all the freebies like cell phones and new cars. Maybe you can get one of those.
