Hello my name is Vicki Rosenberg, my father passed last year, in September of 07. He left behind a wife, 4 children and 6 grandchildren. My father was a man that paid all his bills on time, and very hard working. I know my father had a life insurance policy for all his children, because he told me when I was 17, I am now 38. When my father pass my mother and older brother, which he is by another father, but father took him in when he was 4 so he is consider my father's son, anyway they had let us know there was no life policy left for no one, he stop paying on a life policy 6 months okay. My mother stated there were only 30,000 left for her. Everyday I sit in disbelief, my father knows how I struggle as a single parent with four children, and my daughter was his pride and joy. My parents did not even sleep in the same rooms, my mother left my father when I was 15 and return to him when I was 21, since then they sleep in separate rooms in the house and would say hi and bye to each other. My oldest brother took all his paperwork from his desk in his room where my father faithfully sat doing his bills. Sorry for the whole story, but how would I ever find out if something was done, by my mother and older brother to not allow there family to have a life policy, or how would I find out if there was ever one?

what can I do to find them . . . how do I find those also
To find wills or trusts, you have to look for safe deposit boxes, attorneys, bank trust departments, and the like,Likewise, you may be able to discern life insurance by reviewing bank statements.

What!? How many years later? It is quite possible that the policy technically "lapsed" due to nonpayment of the premium after your father's death -- if there was a policy in force at the time. But that would not prevent the payment of a death claim, even "years later."
There are two ways to go about this. First, if you have banking records of your father's, you can look to see what insurance company(ies) premiums were being paid to. Or you can use the MIB Lost Policy Locator service to try to identify any insurance companies he may have applied to for life insurance. For more information about that, visit http://www.mib.com/lost_life_insurance.html

When my mother passed, my brother and his wife went through her stuff. They took all kinds of papers out of the house that I shared with my mom. They later said that there was no insurance policy except the one through her work. I know my mom had more. 2 years later they are living in a 500,000.00 home and rumor has it that it was from a life insurance policy from my mother that was in my name, that my sister in law forged signatures.

How was your mother's estate settled? Through probate court action?
You can refer to my May 31 post above your two posts for information on the MIB Lost Policy locator service. That's a starting point. Anything else, such as a private investigator, will be far more costly, and may not provide any better information.

You already said that your father told you when you were 17 that he has a Life Insurance Policy. Than means it is confirm that he had a life insurance. Ask about it to your mom and brothers. May be your mom talk about that 30000 was the total money of your dad's life insurance.
