My mother is 84 years old and in pretty good shape for her age. We have no insurance to help with home going services though, when she leaves us. We just want to be able to provide a decent resting place for her without hassle; but she won't make the arrangements..

What are the prospects of her qualifying for that? What are the requirements? Why don't you list them to see if she would fit? I see your point but I believe they said they just wanted to make sure she had a place to rest in which case it would be cheaper to go with my option.

That depends on her health - OP stated that she is in "reasonably good health" for her age. Assuming she has no major medical conditions and a normal height/weight profile, qualifying for preferred wouldn't be that difficult.

Yes, OP did state that be I am sure you know, from being in this business, that people don't really know what good health is. It has to be more specific so maybe you could list was is preferred health for an 84 year old?

Normal height/weight profile, no more than ~180 pounds or so for a 5'6" woman, blood pressure and cholesterol meds under good control, no family history of heart disease or cancer before age 60. Too many factors to take into consideration, these are just the more common ones you run into.

Okay, I just thought if there was a suggestion that it should be made known to the querent what they needed to consider...
We know as agents what works but the clients don't so we have to be specific with them to give them the opportunity to make an informed decision. Of course, you can't thoroughly do that here on a forum but it does help to have something to go off of.

How many people over age 80 do you think would fit that profile? I would imagine since you sell a lot of these policies you would have some statistics. I'm not saying it is impossible... It would be something to look at BUT if she didn't fit into that; I know for sure that an FE policy at that age is just ridiculous.

it is necessary to have the full data about the FE policies and then it could be some perfect stance to comment on the issue.

I don't think so... at that age, tell me one FE policy that makes economical sense. As a matter of fact, most don't even issue after 80. Do you know why? Because it doesn't make sense.

I work with the Elderly....ALOT of them are over 80 years of age. they do have Medicare, mostly because any other Insurance would say they are 'high risk' ( because of age, pre-existing Health conditions, etc.), so, they wouldn't 'qualify' for other Insurance policies.
