My home title was taken by the city as a distressed property and it was not given back until repairs were done. In the meanwhile , my insurance company has decided to not pay the recoverable deprecation and I need to replace my roof and a few other things around the house. The fire was in july 2010 and I received first check in dec.2010. The completion to my home wasn't complete until dec.2015.And I didn't receive my title back until then.

My nephew hit a parked car with a go cart that he and his friends made there was damage to the bumper of the park car he opened a claim with his insurance company they paid him 976.00 on the claim he pulled the dent out with a plunger. My auto insurance of course denied the claim and his insurance company is seeking payment from me. Do I have to pay for cost labor and parts on a repair that was not done.

I have been considering changing insurance companies (auto and homeowners) since I need to insure my daughter who will soon have a drivers license. I think I can get a better rate from a different insurance company. However, a recent storm damaged our roof and likely needs to be replaced. Should I submit a claim with my current insurance company and then shop around for a better rate for auto & homeowners insurance? Or vice versa...change insurance companies to get a better rate and then submit a claim for my roof? Or is there some other (better) option I should consider?

House burned down in 4/2015, repaired 1/2016. I have recoverable depreciation, I have purchased a lot of the major items such as bedroom sets, livingroom furniture, and TV's so far. I have lived in the house for 20 years or more It may take another year to fully replace all the items that were lost in the fire and I am constantly remembering other items lost in the fire. It is possible to get the remaining recoverable depreciation or did I need to try to hurry up and purchase the other missing items..
