Money back for claims-free home insurance?

My parents haven’t been able to pay towards their home insurance policy now for a while and as a result their policy was called off. They are now wondering what will happen to the money they have been paying all the years. Will they get it back since they haven’t made a single claim yet?

I recently purchased a home in CA and purchased a home insurance from Farmers. I have thoroughly checked the papers but nowhere is written that the coverage includes wildfire. So my question is do wildfires usually come under basic homeowners insurance?

Water runs down from foreclosed condo..please help

I live in the ground floor (owned by me) of a three floor condo. The top floor foreclosed a few months back and caused around $10k of water damage to my unit. I believe their patio slider door does not close. Each time it rains, all the water runs down my wall. I’ve no clue if the water is actually coming down from their patio slider. But there is no doubt that it is coming down from upstairs. Since it keeps raining, the insurance has denied to touch it.

Home insurance denied because of a dog!!

I along with my husband and three kids live in a nice middle sized home now nearly for 10 years and during these years, we never missed a single mortgage payment. We both make good at the end of each month and we’ve never made any claim on our home insurance in the past.

So I decided to switch over to another insurance provider after being with the same company fr all these years and moreover, when my employer offered a good discount through Liberty Mutual. Everything was going fine until they asked me if I had a dog.

Home insurance for broken windows

Hello,

In October I’m moving out of my apartment. Unfortunately, few days ago I noticed that most of the windows are broken in the corners. The house is quite old and the windows are too, old. Perhaps, these happened while closing them or during last winter.

Could you please tell me how to solve the issue? Should I change all the glasses before I move out? Or, would the agency change that once they take over?

Since this is my first renting, I don’t know the rules.

Thanks!

Home insurance company wants their money back

We had some good amount to downpour in our area few weeks back. The situation went to such extent that the FEMA had to get involved. Our basement flooded as the sump pump broke. We knew that it wouldn’t be covered by our policy, we still checked and interestingly found that it was covered under our policy. After few days, they mailed us a check and we used to to do the repairing works. However, after 6 weeks from the date the check was cashed and spent we received a letter from the carrier stating that they did a mistake and wanted their money back.

Why do I need a home insurance inspection?

My current homeowners insurance policy was purchased in 2011 and now the insurance company is saying that they need to do an ‘interior survey’ of my home. We've never needed a home insurance inspection before.

I, along with my husband, live in Wisconsin. This home we live in was built in 1950 and I’ve always had home insurance policy. None in my family has ever heard of this kind of survey. So all we are a bit skeptic. Is it something new?

Ending home insurance policy

Anyone here without a mortgage and has decided to drop the home insurance?

I will have (after foreclosure ends this month) a rental property worth about $30k (no mortgage, in a separate LLC) and the home insurance quotes I have seen are near $1k/year.

For me 3% annually is too much to spend on insurance, so I am thinking of discarding it.
