Possession? Distribution? I don't think they'd allow you to be an agent.

Convicted of a child abuse felony 15 years ago.will this stop me from receiving an Insurance Agent License?

Possibly. It falls within the Federal Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act that prohibits certain felons from employment in the financial services industry without a regulator's consent waiver. You have to discuss the matter with your state's insurance regulator.

Hi, I have been charged with a simple misdemeanor for assault. The judge said i will get deferred judgement and it will be expunged from my record but that will take six months and I am about to apply for a Nebraska insurance license. Do I need to worry about not getting approved.

Probably not, but you MUST DISCLOSE your deferred judgment status. Failure to complete the court's required obligation will result in a conviction, and that would certainly cloud your license.

As I tell my students, failure to disclose is always worse than the disclosure itself.

Max thanks for answering my question

Ok so here is my second question related to that. I am in the "onboarding" process with a agency. I will be a contracted agent with them. I have completed all background checks, testing, and bonding. All i have left to do is get the state license. The charges came after all that. Since I will be a contracted agent, do I need to tell them about the charges.

you must disclose it. and apply for a waiver. you will have to jump through some more hoops, but should be ok. now on the child abuse, you may have to jump through even more hoops. and once you get the license, you now have to disclose it to the insurance companies, to get appointed. call up the dept of insurance and talk with them.

Can you lose your insurance license if you lied about your identity during a traffic stop?

was it charged under the traffic code. or criminal code. and what did you plead to. Failure to disclose is worse than the crime. The DOI takes a major offense, to anyone who doesn't disclose. And they have no sense of humor.
