Figuring Value

I have been going through the messages here and am trying to figure ACV for my truck. I checked Kelley, NADA, and Edmunds. I also searched the used lots for 100 miles as well as the news paper. I come up with about $26,000 but when the adjuster called today he said it was only worth $20,000. I went through how i arrived at the number and he said that is a national average and does not apply. They also deducted 1K for the exterior condition and 1K for the interior. The only cosmetic any thing on the exterior was from this accident and the only thing in the interior was a coke stain caused by this accident. I understand the adjusters job is to get his company out of this mess for as low as he can but how do you reason with them and at what piont do you just call in the attorney? I was sitting at a red light when their customers car ran into me, I say car because the customer loaned the car to a "friend" who had a suspended license and was arested at the scene. She hit me so hard it moved me 20+ feet and caused damage to 3 other cars. I was the first to file a claim but he said since there are others involved that I cant claim all of the 25k she had any way. I always thought it was first come first serve.

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

The new frame needs to be set up and measured. They are sometimes bent by the time they get to the shop.

My reply was before I saw the second page, the "estimate" and the photos. The hood looks like the inner structure is damaged and shouldn't be repaired. Probably needs a latch too. Lori, don't they restore the corrosion protection where you are. This estimate looks to be poorly written, and I believe there is a conflict of interest with this shop.

Yeah we do of course pay corrosion protection..but it's on the sheet...I agree the estimate certainly looks short in a few areas, but it's also hard to read in this type of format...(you missed the Corrosion protection  line forty-eight)...depends on the system re: what are and are not included opperations...It looks like it could be mitchell..maybe...I can't see his hood well enough to make that call in the phots...and the shop certainly should...I don't understand the shop..unless what they said was it's a total if they want to put the kit in, but if they will replace the entire frame (and it's a new oem frame)...then it's ok to fix...is that right Rick?

I missed the corrosion prot. The front lip is bent with the inner struct. on the hood. It would take more time to work both pieces to fit the grille and headlights, plus refinish inside. I would pre pull the old frame to insure that all of the mounts were in the right place to accept the new one. Many post repair inspections have revealed replacement frames that are bent. The truck has been moved a few times and the fron bumper is on the tires, there is no alignment on the sheet. The shop is clearly working for USAA, not Rick. So many red flags here. Run Rick! Run!

That may be included Dave, when I get my lap top back up I'll check mitchell...hey wait a dog gone minute...if we're replacing the entire frame, why is this on the sheet?

45* Rpr Rear crossmember 4.0 1.0

:?

If the innerstructure of the hood is damaged, I'd replace it period (and they should too), Rick are you listening?

Always....another thing, and maybe since it's new they won't need too, but don't these have a few bed bolts in them too? Most of the time you have to cut those out...

Were they not a DRP for the other ins. company and not this (his) one? If they are a DRP with your carrier Rick, make sure that they are providing a WRITTEN warranty from your insurance carrier as well...

course the alignment isn't included but wanted to check for sure, would think he'd want a bunch of cushions and bolts as well...but let's not rush to judgement could be they are waiting on the frame to arrive to see EXACTLY what comes with it, and may have a 2k or so supplement on it....I'd bet the body shop will have a decent sized supp on this Rick...there's no danger of it totaling so...they aren't worried about that...and will likely handle the supplement at or near the end of the repair..you want to make sure as I stated earlier that those tires are checked too (call the shop about this) and that an alignment is done...(as well as mt and balance all the tires)...

Thanks Lori.
I went there today and talked to him. The alignment is all included but is not a line item and he will take a look at the tires. The bigger issue is that there is now a rip in the rear seat and a lovely door ding on the passenger side :( Whom ever at the salvage yard removed my plates and tossed them in the back cutting the seat. I am sure they didn't think it was going back to the repair shop and i am sure they treat cars like cattle not as it was their own car. Luckily I took pictures of EVERYTHING when the other carrier told me they deducted $1000 for interior condition and I wanted to document it before they scrapped it.
When will this nightmare end ?
On a good note USAA does pay DV on a UI claim and is sending the paperwork to fill out. The way this is going I am sure I will end up owing them money.

Your carrier should cover all of this, then subrogate against the salvage yard, (yeah that will get paid back you betcha....) If your carrier tells you that you have to file the claim against the salvage yard your self, and they won't cover it, it's time to raise, well you know...Should'nt be a problem, but you need to let them know about it now! Call your rep and leave a message on her voice mail if you haven't already...do NOT let time pass before you do this...

Way worse than cattle, and you'd be surprised the way some of these guys treat their cars, and what they drive,

What a stoke of luck and genious!

When will this nightmare end ?

I'm not sure it will....sorry......

That is REALLY good news, and surprising!

The way this is going I am sure I will end up owing them money.

  no doubt!
