I was in car accident. Whiplash. Was treated by medical provider who billed about 5k. My car insurance negotiated down the amount and paid about half of that. Medical provider now wants me to pay what my car insurance didn't pay. Am I liable for the amount that was negotiated away by the medical provider and the Car insurance co.?

I guess, once he is paid for his services he can't charge more from you. You need to inform your carrier about it. Is there a clause that state that the carrier is paying only half of the cost and you will be responsible for the rest of the amount?

IMO the med. is only trying to make a quick fortune this way. Once a claim is settled it is closed. You can't be held responsible for the amount that has been negotiated out.

Sit tight, buddy. You are not required to pay a single dime to the medical provider

You should not be...I'll assume we're talking about a chiropractor or physical therapy here? And will further assume they had a lein filed with the auto carrier? If they negotiated with down then the provider released the lein correct? If so get a copy of the lein release and tell the provider you're done......
