Is a fixed annuity or a fixed indexed annuity a safe investment? Would you recommend any other low or no-risk investments?

Fix annuities are much safer than indexed annuities. It's not just about prinicpal preservation, you must also consider buying power preservation/time value of money.

CD's are another option if you worry about needing the entire principal back within a 5-8 year period.

There are a lot of other questions to be asking...

BNTRS,

How can you say fixed annuities are safer than indexed annuities. They are both fixed. Both have the protections of the state insurance funds, and indexed annuities have traditionally out performed guaranteed interest contracts. Go sell your securities and lose more of your client's money. Don't make an opinion on a product you obviously despise.

Guaranteed rate of indexed annuity < guaranteed rate of fixed annuity

We call that an inequality, think back to first grade math.

Who said anything about an annuity with a GRO?

Maybe I made a radical assumption that a contract with a higher guaranteed interest rate was safer.

So tell me, because again I'm all ears, what makes the EIA safer? Or are you just going to tell me how much of a "fraud merchant" registered representative I am for the umteenth time.

BTW, stop changing your name, to appear like there are more people who support your position.

I just stumbled into this subject and would really like to learn more about it.
So this is more a question, than an answer.
Where and how do I find reliable info about fixed indexed annuity?

Thanks in advance,

Tamara

If you find a reliable source let me know as I've not been able to find one. Everyone who wants to flame me for not having an unwavering love for them fails to provide any ounce of evidence to back the claims they make. The one person who did finally give me a fact sheet on the annuity that was supposed to be such a contradictions to my portrayal of them posted something that wasn't anything close to what he/she was suggesting it was. When I ask for evidence of the claims some make the response just has something to do with the suggestion that I not know how to use a search engine.
